Your firm's data is stuck in Canopy while your dashboards, reports, and internal tools sit somewhere else. Canopy's upgraded API fixes that. 🎉 Now you can connect your own systems directly to Canopy. Read and write clients, contacts, tasks, and client requests. Add documents. Pull invoice data into your reports. No more manual exports. No more workarounds. Here's what that looks like in practice: ✨ Clean client data, in and out. Pull it into dashboards and warehouses, or push it in to automate onboarding. ✨ Workflows triggered from your own systems. Your tools and Canopy finally work together. ✨ Write access where it counts. Many practice management platforms only let you read client requests. Canopy lets you write them too. ✨ Billing data for reporting. Pull invoices into your dashboards for clean roll-ups. ✨ Secure by design. Every call runs through Canopy's existing identity and permissions, all traffic is encrypted, and financial endpoints are audit-logged from day one. Payments always stay inside Canopy. Jay Kimelman, CPA, COO of Pillar Accounting & Technology, said it best: "It's a 91% time savings by using the API versus manually doing it." And on how fast he got up and running: "I put in the docs ... 15 minutes later, I had data. Within an hour I had invoices out and into both Xero and Digits." One platform. Built to extend. 👏 The new Canopy API is available now for Plus and Premium plans. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/g4-MmCh9

We know Wednesdays are becoming your favorite day of the week. Episode 4 of our mini series with Lera Kooper is live, and this one's all about sustainable scaling. Lera is growing Proactive Advisory Group fast. What keeps it working isn't doing more. It's doing the few right things over and over. "Do the boring thing, focus in, hit the critical points, and be okay with saying no to interesting things." Luke Frye, CPA and Lera also get into what to fix first when you acquire a firm, why upselling is really just good service, and whether AI finally kills the billable hour. One episode left in the series, so now's a good time to catch up. Listen to the full conversation 👇 Apple: https://lnkd.in/giYNgJmx Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gfbU-3mU

Rachel asked a great question during Better Everyday live session: "Can Canopy replace CPA Charge?" Yes, and the reason why is kind of the whole point. When your time, invoices, and payments all live in the same place, there's nothing to reconcile. Your client pays from the portal or the mobile app, the invoice clears on its own, and the money goes straight to your bank. Sometimes that happens before the return is even e-filed. One process instead of three. If you're curious how it works, here's a closer look: https://lnkd.in/gBjqmjgm

"I don't want to hand off my client relationships to AI." It's a fair concern. But Lera Kooper, COO and Co-Owner of Proactive Advisory Group, thinks it works the other way around. When AI is built into the software your firm already uses, it can take care of the legwork. That includes pulling client history before meetings, flagging past due invoices, and spotting clients who haven't heard from you in a while. That gives your team more time for what clients actually hire you for: strategy, judgment, and guidance. As Lera puts it, AI makes room for more face-to-face time, and nothing is more personal than that. Read her full take on embedded AI: https://lnkd.in/g2GAdYV5

Did someone say Juno?? 👀 Tax prep might just become the easy part of busy season Say hello to the Juno integration in Canopy, now live for every firm. You know the drill: chase the documents, sort the pile, key the W-2s and the 1099s and the K-1s by hand, cross-check against last year's return, catch what's missing, then start the whole thing over on the next client. Multiply that by every return on your desk between January and April. Here's the new version. Link the prior-year return and the supporting docs from the client's Tax Prep tab. Juno reads them, over 100 document types including the blurry phone photo your client swears is legible, and builds a review-ready workpaper that flags source-to-return mismatches, prior-year changes, and anything still missing. You review, you approve, and it pushes straight into Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect, CCH Axcess, or UltraTax. Nothing moves until your preparer says it's ready. The work is still yours. The data entry just isn't. And everything else stays exactly where it already lives. Intake, documents, workflow, portal, e-signature, and billing, all still in Canopy. The best part? Canopy doesn't charge a thing for the integration, and it doesn't use a TWA credit. All you need is an active Juno subscription. We are beyond excited about this and we hope you are too! Go check it out: https://lnkd.in/gJ7qfGbP

We're blushing 💙
“My team is drooling.” There’s only one practice management software on the market that I’ve seen elicit that sort of response. This firm owner was pretty much sold on TaxDome… Until he saw Canopy. The first time I met Luke Frye, CPA, I told him Canopy was basically the Bugatti of practice management software to me. You get inside and it feels luxurious. It’s polished, intuitive, and it just feels really, really good to use. There’s also a tremendous amount of power under the hood. And one of my favorite things about the platform is that their support is fantastic. I’m not going to call anybody out here, but I have experienced atrocious support from other PMS companies. Strong UI and stellar customer support make a huge difference. I don’t care if another product is technically “more customizable”, or whatever, if I log in and it feels clunky, I struggle to find things, looking at it makes my eyes cross, and then it requires an act of congress to get help quickly when I need it. Disclaimer: Canopy pays me $0 to sing their praises. They just have a phenomenal platform. Any time a firm owner tells me how much they love their current PMS, my immediate thought is still: “I bet you never tried Canopy.” 😏 "My team is drooling” is a pretty high bar.

Most capacity problems get solved by hiring. Lera Kooper tries subtraction first. Before she adds anyone, she asks whether the capacity already exists somewhere in the team she has. Usually it does, and freeing it up means removing things rather than pushing harder. Fewer meetings during a heavy season. Saying no to good ideas because the timing isn't right. "We can't do it all at once." That last part is the hard bit. Saying no to a bad idea costs nothing. Saying no to a good one, because this quarter can't hold it, is a different kind of discipline. Episode 3 of five with Lera Kooper is live. 🥳 Apple: https://lnkd.in/ggKFSfD7 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gJgmz6fU
