When NASA announced the upcoming launch of Artemis II, the first crewed lunar mission in 50+ years, we asked ourselves: what does this moment mean for Brooklyn kids? This past month, our STEM makerspace had families building and launching their own spacecraft designs, exploring the physics of flight, testing aerodynamics, and discovering what it actually takes to leave the atmosphere. Meanwhile in our art studio, kids made articulated astronaut puppets inspired by Afrofuturist sculptor Yinka Shonibare, reimagining who goes to space and what they might find when they get there. TY Fox 5 for stopping by to see the next generation of scientists in action 🚀 #BrooklynKids #STEMEducation #Artemis2 #Brooklyn #KidScience #SpaceExploration

We're proud to welcome Tanya Layne to our Board of Trustees. Tanya serves as Chief Legal Officer at Gagosian, where she oversees the legal department for the gallery's international network. Her career spans art, law, and finance, with experience at Sotheby's, Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, and PwC, and she brings that combination of expertise to BCM as we continue expanding programs for children and families across Brooklyn. A Brooklyn resident and lifelong New Yorker, Tanya previously served as an ex-officio mayoral appointee to our Board. We're grateful to have her voice as we continue building on 125+ years of serving the borough. Join us in congratulating Tanya! 👏 #BrooklynKids #Brooklyn #NonprofitLeadership #CommunityLeadership

The Brooklyn Eagle just published a profile of our President & CEO, Atiba Edwards, touching on BCM's history, programming philosophy, and some of what's ahead for the Museum. As Atiba puts it: "When they walk out the doors here, children feel a little bit more edified, educated and familiar with the vast world of Brooklyn." Thanks Wayne Daren Schneiderman for the lovely piece! Read the article 👉 https://lnkd.in/ebThWmCS

Hundreds of families celebrated Tu BiShvat at BCM this past Sunday, connecting with nature, culture, and each other through seedling planting, botanical art-making, and Jewish environmental traditions. And we made it on News 12! Big thanks to our partners: The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life, Adamah, Big Reuse, NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY), Tkiya Music, The LUNAR Collective, and PJ Library.
