🍔 Tomorrow: Build your own burger at BCM! For National Hamburger Day, our culinary resident Rogers Burgers is leading a hands-on burger-making workshop during our free Community Access hours. Kids will design their own sliders, mix up a signature sauce, choose their toppings, and learn a few fun food facts along the way. It’s a tasty way to celebrate burgers, Haitian Heritage Month, and the local entrepreneurs who make Brooklyn Brooklyn 🥰 Speaking of Brooklyn: Rogers Burgers was just featured in Brooklyn Magazine! Coming from the former Commissioner of NYC Department of Small Business Services, this means a lot! Thank you, Rob Walsh! ❤️
THIS WEEK ON 1010 WINS The Bottom Line for Small Business Throughout the City, we have seen a number of cultural organizations add restaurants and cafes, where people can gather and experience more than just exhibits. Now the Brooklyn Children's Museum is taking that idea even further with a creative new initiative called CRISP – the Culinary Residency and Incubator Support Program. CRISP lowers barriers for small food entrepreneurs by providing access to pop-up café space inside the Museum. For these vendors, they can test concepts, grow their brand and build lasting relationships with new customers in a supportive, visible setting. *** Rob Walsh, former Commissioner of NYC Department of Small Business Services from 2002-2013 during the Bloomberg Administration, now serves as an Advisor to HubSpire and an Adjunct Professor at Columbia | SIPA. His segment, The Bottom Line for Small Business, can be heard every Monday and Friday on 1010 WINS on 92.3 FM. Empire Skate of Mind made the The New York Times! 📰 For five months, our rooftop became a roller rink celebrating the legacy of Crown Heights' original Empire Roller Disco - the birthplace of roller disco, less than a mile from BCM. Last month, NYT's Sarah Bahr and Vidhya Nagarajan spent a Saturday afternoon chatting with families on our rooftop – from kids saying roller skating beats karate, to first time skaters, to families trying something new together. One parent, watching it all unfold: "It looks like a success!" Link 👉 https://lnkd.in/eKbXx_uB

When NASA announced the upcoming launch of Artemis II, the first crewed lunar mission in 50+ years, we asked ourselves: what does this moment mean for Brooklyn kids? This past month, our STEM makerspace had families building and launching their own spacecraft designs, exploring the physics of flight, testing aerodynamics, and discovering what it actually takes to leave the atmosphere. Meanwhile in our art studio, kids made articulated astronaut puppets inspired by Afrofuturist sculptor Yinka Shonibare, reimagining who goes to space and what they might find when they get there. TY Fox 5 for stopping by to see the next generation of scientists in action 🚀 #BrooklynKids #STEMEducation #Artemis2 #Brooklyn #KidScience #SpaceExploration
