This year marks a decade of Break into the Boardroom (BiB) , a powerful initiative committed to placing high-performing women executives in healthcare board seats. 400 women have completed the program with 90 being placed on boards. Over the past 10 years, we've had the privilege of engaging and empowering hundreds of talented women—and this year was no exception. Nearly 60 accomplished leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem came together for a unique event at Cure. focused on building the knowledge, confidence, and connections needed to secure and succeed in board roles. Participants heard directly from a dynamic group of speakers—including investors, recruiters, and operators—who shared real-world insights on topics including: - Understanding governance, structure, and responsibilities - Positioning their experience for board opportunities - Evaluating board fit based on personal skills and aspirations And just as importantly, they began building bonds with each other—connections that will no doubt grow into lasting networks of support. Special thanks to our longstanding sponsors: Deerfield Management, Oxeon, and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe. Your commitment to developing the next generation of female board leaders is what makes this program possible. Here’s to ten years of progress—and the work still ahead. Thanks to our keynote speaker Toyin Ajayi and other speakers Robyn C. Davis, Jane Wasman, Alicia Syrett, Caitlin Zulla, Anna Haghgooie, Teresa Sparks, Karen Walker Johnson, Jan Berger, Stephen Anastos, Sara Nayeem, Jessica Zeaske, Tara Bishop MD, MPH, Sonia Millsom, Mia Jung, and Leslie Henshaw.

Women remain meaningfully underrepresented on healthcare boards and BiB is committed to making a difference.
About us
Break into the Boardroom (BiB) is a program developed to cultivate executive women board candidates for parity board representation on public, private, and non-profit boards throughout the healthcare industry. The program strives, by design, to be practical, concrete, and measurable. With this in mind, Break into the Boardroom’s goal is to find qualified women, enhance their knowledge of governance fundamentals and match them over time with appropriate board roles. Interested in participating or building out your board? Contact us through our website link! Deerfield and Oxeon founded BiB on a shared belief that their organizations are uniquely positioned to not only cultivate new female board candidates but to also connect these women with concrete governance opportunities. Deerfield and Oxeon focus on identifying talent, building companies, and deploying capital within the healthcare ecosystem, which enables BiB to create the perfect intersection of supply and demand. This framework naturally mitigates the classic chicken and egg problem that has proven such an intractable obstacle to the goal of increasing female board representation. In 2022, BiB welcomed Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe to its sponsorship team and formally embedded the organization within Advancium Health Network, an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization launched by Deerfield Management. Together this newly expanded team aims to broaden the program’s reach by increasing the variety and cadence of its programming and engaging with an ever-widening network of board decision-makers.
