We’re excited to share that our Omaha office has been recognized with a 2026 U.S. Local Leadership Award for Project Excellence from the U.S. Green Building Council! This recognition reflects something we’ve been working toward for a long time: demonstrating what’s possible in existing buildings when decarbonization, health, and performance are treated as interconnected priorities—not tradeoffs. Our Omaha office became one of the first projects in the country to achieve LEED v5 O+M Platinum, serving as a living case study for what high-performance operations can look like in practice. From electrification and renewable energy to policy-driven operations and ongoing performance tracking, the goal was to create a space that not only performs—but teaches. More importantly, this project has been an opportunity to share what we’re learning—through tours, conversations, and collaboration with the broader industry. Grateful to our team and partners who helped bring this to life, and to USGBC for continuing to push the industry forward. #LeadershipAwards #LEEDv5 #Decarbonization #BetterBuiltEnvironments

Better Built Environments®
About us
We are a building consultancy dedicated to creating Better Built Environments® through our many interwoven specialisms. Our beliefs are rooted in nature which has taught us that true sustainability sits at the intersection of human experience and environmental stewardship. Creating truly high-performing buildings is complex, but we believe that it shouldn’t feel that way for our clients. By working to tackle the complexity ourselves, we make it easier for our clients to achieve their goals. Our practices are led, and supported, from start to finish by our team of progressive experts in the fields of engineering, architecture, social science, testing and analytics. We remain committed to our roots in sustainability and are excited to shift the focus to people with our unique Human-Centered Design approach. Everything we do and why we do it is guided by our longstanding purpose of Improving Life through Better Built Environments. Our name is inspired by the natural environment that lives all around us. Branch patterns are the building blocks of natural systems. Humanity is innately drawn to these elegant and efficient fractals. This deep connection is represented throughout mankind’s history of science, art, engineering and architecture. Upon closer look, the buildings and infrastructure we help create are full of branch patterns.

🏢What if a “healthy workplace” meant more than just a gym or standing desk? In her latest perspective piece, Mikaela Lewandowski explores the idea of movement diversity — designing workplaces that support a range of movement throughout the day. Think walking meetings, visible and inviting stairs, centrally located amenities, and spaces that encourage people to move naturally as part of their routine. This approach aligns closely with frameworks like the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI)'s WELL Building Standard, which emphasizes opportunities for physical activity and active design strategies that support occupant health and well-being. Most importantly, it’s not just a design challenge — it’s an opportunity for owners, designers, and employers to rethink how workplaces support people day-to-day. 🖇️Read Mikaela’s full perspective: https://hubs.la/Q0487TC60 #WorkplaceDesign #WELLBuildingStandard #HealthyBuildings #HumanCenteredDesign #ImprovingLife #BetterBuiltEnvironments

Over the course of last year, U.S. Green Building Council rolled out a series of 'Ask the Experts' webinars to introduce #LEEDv5 under 10 topic categories. We at BranchPattern saw this as an excellent opportunity to get the word out, on these new rating system changes, and our staff released a series of video shorts on these topics.
