Every Lesson. Every Day.

About us

We are on a mission to shift the paradigm of “typical” teaching. We work in partnership with schools and districts who are serious about ensuring that all students can access and engage in grade-level learning. Our partners come to us when they are ready to do something different. We tackle long-standing patterns of inequitable student outcomes by supporting schools and systems to center learner variability in their approach to teaching and learning. Proud moment for the Summit community: Summit Shasta has been named a 2026 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education! This recognition highlights two things that matter deeply to us: closing achievement gaps and creating real beacons of opportunity for students. The designation reflects strong outcomes for students overall while also accelerating progress for groups of students who have historically been underserved. At Summit, we talk a lot about preparing young people for a fulfilled life after high school. Awards like this are a reflection of the daily work of educators who believe deeply in their students and design learning experiences that challenge, support, and open doors. Huge congratulations to the entire Summit Shasta team, and the students and families who make this community so special. Your work continues to show what’s possible when high expectations and deep care go hand in hand. Looking forward to celebrating this achievement with schools across the state at the California School Recognition Program in April. #CaliforniaDistinguishedSchool #Education #StudentSuccess #SummitPublicSchools

Taking a quick break to brag about my wonderful team! Out of 326 proposals (!!), Blue Engine made it to the final round of the The Learning Agency's #ToolsCompetition. If funded, we’ll develop EveryLesson: Co-Teaching AI, a tool to help teachers and instructional coaches turn co-teaching into a real instructional lever, not just a staffing structure. Right now, classrooms with teams of educators often default to low-impact approaches, even when the potential is so much greater. It’s not the presence of a second adult that matters, it’s HOW that adult is used. This tool helps educators translate real classroom context into clear, actionable plans: who does what, when, and how all learners will be supported to access grade-level work. Excited to be in the final round, and even more excited about what this could mean for teachers and students. Check out all the finalists here. https://lnkd.in/gD2WzkYa #education #inclusivepractices #coteaching #tools

Bienville Parish School Board, recently recognized as one of Louisiana's top improving districts for students with disabilities, joined us this week at Rivet Education's Quarterly PLPG Provider Webinar to share what taking their Blue Engine partnership even further under an OBC has unlocked. The mid-year data spoke for themselves. Here's what shifted for teachers in just one semester: - Teachers reporting they are teaching more inclusively and equitably: 62% → 80% - Teachers reporting they are maximizing all adults in the classroom in service of student learning: 40% → 80% - All three teacher teams moved up at least one proficiency level in both collecting and acting on data "When you walk into the classroom, you literally do not know which student had a disability or who didn't." — Dr. Mary Riley, Bienville Parish School District This is what mutual accountability looks like in practice. • Come learn with us about how to build coherence in multi-adult classrooms! Blue Engine’s Meredith (Rosenberg) Pasake and Matthew Guerrero, alongside Dr. Sabrina Brown of Theodore Roosevelt High School, are excited to present at ASU’s Next Education Workforce Strategic Staffing Summit on February 5 at 10:15 AM MST / 12:15 PM EST. In our session, Coherence Check: Re-Thinking the Support Model for Team Teaching, we’ll share how Roosevelt HS aligned leadership, coaching, and teacher expectations around a single priority -- improving outcomes for students with IEPs in co-taught classrooms. You’ll walk away with a practical, 4-step Coherence Check framework that helps leaders strengthen team-based instruction by reconfiguring existing systems (not adding more to already full plates). If you’re a system leader, school leader, or education partner navigating the complexity of multi-adult classrooms, this session is for you. 👉 Join us: https://lnkd.in/gcTCHj25 #NextEducationWorkforce #TeamTeaching #StrategicStaffing #DistributedExpertise #BlueEngine

  • A powerful reminder that AI should never replace what matters most in classrooms: skilled educators who know their students deeply. Thoughtful design and implementation can help ensure every learner stays connected to grade-level opportunities.

We can choose how AI shows up in Special Education. But will we? Last week I was grateful for the invitation to share a few thoughts about this topic at a policy roundtable hosted by New America and Educating All Learners Alliance. There are three non-negotiables that we care a lot about at Blue Engine: 1. AI can never replace human teachers. Many students with special learning needs experience more than their share of frustration and failure at school. AI will never pick a student’s head up off a desk after something has felt impossible for the millionth time. It will never walk the hallways with a student who’s struggling to sit still and make that game-time decision to let them explain their thinking out loud instead of filling out a worksheet. As we design AI solutions, we need to keep the right goal in mind: tools that empower teachers to be the very best educators for students with diverse learning needs. 2. AI has the potential to accelerate a crisis we already have: incoherence. Even before AI, students with disabilities were often bouncing between supplemental materials, intervention content, and one-off teacher-created resources. These tools might "help" in the moment, but they often don’t create a clear, connected path to grade-level learning. AI can make this problem move faster by multiplying the number of instructional decisions that fall outside a coherent system. Most widely used AI tools are curriculum-agnostic, not built to ensure alignment with a district’s adopted materials, and many tools designed to support differentiation don’t consistently anchor students in grade-level learning as the end goal. Efficiency should never come at the expense of coherence; high quality core curriculum must shape every micro-decision about what students experience. 3. We have the power to shape whether AI upholds or threatens the civil rights of students with disabilities, and we need to use it. Design, procurement, and implementation choices must be informed by a diverse set of experts who represent the best interests of students, especially students with disabilities and other special learning needs. Let's use our collective power to shape a market that rewards quality rather than speed. We can wait until products are worthy of our students. Curious if any of this resonates with what others are thinking and seeing? So great to connect Erin Mote Aurora Dreger Treah Hutchings Eric Tucker Erin Stark Brett Roer

  • Heading to the Learning Forward Conference in Boston? Let’s connect. Team Blue (Aisha Chappell, Ray Canada, and Tiffany Galloway) will be joining educators and leaders from across the country next week -- and we’d love to meet fellow attendees who are thinking about instructional coherence, inclusion, and strengthening adult collaboration.
