Dr. Smith’s stand on the Olympic podium was not just a moment in sports history, it was a defining act of courage that continues to shape conversations around justice, dignity, and leadership. Jesse Jackson understood that real change required shifting systems, not just sentiments. Through Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition, he pushed major corporations to hire Black executives, expand supplier diversity, invest in Black communities, and open doors that had long been closed. He challenged boardrooms. He demanded accountability. And he translated protest into policy and economic participation. At NBMBAA Atlanta, we stand on the shoulders of leaders like Rev. Jackson. His fight for economic inclusion is the very foundation of our work. He didn’t just speak about justice, he moved institutions. Today we pause to honor a leader who changed systems and widened the path for those who followed.

The NBMBAA Atlanta Chapter is strengthening our leadership bench, and we’re looking for professionals ready to serve. We are currently seeking a Director of Marketing (Board-level role) to lead execution of our marketing strategy and elevate the Chapter’s brand presence across programs, corporate partnerships, and member engagement. This leader will help: • Strengthen brand visibility and messaging • Drive strategic campaign execution We are expanding our Marketing & Public Relations Committee and welcoming professionals who bring expertise in: • Content strategy • Digital marketing • Copywriting • Media relations • Graphic design • Analytics & reporting • Email marketing & automation In addition to Marketing, we are seeking volunteer leaders across all committees from Finance and Corporate Affairs to Membership, Technology, Student Affairs, Leadership Programs, and more. Each committee plays a critical role in strengthening our Chapter’s operations, impact, and member experience.
