We are honored to share an important update for tonight’s Black History Month program. In addition to our fireside conversation with civil rights icon Xernona Clayton, moderated by journalist and author Ronda Racha Penrice (Black History for Dummies), we will present a special tribute recognizing Olympic Gold Medalist and global human rights advocate Dr. Tommie Smith for his enduring legacy and impact. Dr. Smith’s stand on the Olympic podium was not just a moment in sports history, it was a defining act of courage that continues to shape conversations around justice, dignity, and leadership. We are officially at capacity for in-person attendance and are grateful for the overwhelming response. For those unable to join us in person, join us via the livestream option https://lnkd.in/eKGsB7eJ that will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. this evening. Please note that a full recording will also be shared on our YouTube channel later this week. Legacy is not just remembered. It is honored. It is carried forward. #BlackHistoryMonth #Leadership #Legacy #NBMBAAAtlanta #TommieSmith

Jesse Jackson understood that real change required shifting systems, not just sentiments. Through Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition, he pushed major corporations to hire Black executives, expand supplier diversity, invest in Black communities, and open doors that had long been closed. He challenged boardrooms. He demanded accountability. And he translated protest into policy and economic participation. At NBMBAA Atlanta, we stand on the shoulders of leaders like Rev. Jackson. His fight for economic inclusion is the very foundation of our work. He didn’t just speak about justice, he moved institutions. Today we pause to honor a leader who changed systems and widened the path for those who followed.

#Mentorship increases the likelihood of promotion fivefold and boosts long-term earning potential.
The right connection, meaningful guidance and a lot of momentum! Shaun Quarterman has been mentoring with NBMBAA Atlanta for about two and a half years. Some conversations are one-offs, and others turn into a lasting rhythm. With Olawale SOLARIN, their meetings continue regularly. He shows up, applies what he learns and shares his progress. The best part so far? Olawale landed a role and salary at one of his top target companies! 👏

🚨 It’s Giving Tuesday — and today, ATLBMBA is launching Drive to 45! 🚨 In honor of our 45th Anniversary, we’re calling on our members, partners, and supporters to give $45 today (or $450 / $4,500 if able) to help us raise vital funds for our programs. Why your support matters now more than ever. Education: Black students face the highest financial barriers to completing college. Our scholarships move students from ambition to achievement. Entrepreneurship: Black founders receive <2% of VC funding. Our pitch competitions provide capital, coaching, and opportunity. Career Access: Black professionals make up 12% of the workforce but only 4% of the Fortune 500 C-suite. We’re helping shift these numbers through leadership and career development. Mentorship: Mentorship increases promotion likelihood fivefold. Our mentorship program strengthens career pathways at every level. It doesn’t take a lot when we act together. If just 1,000 of us give $45, we reach $45K — today! Imagine what we can give in scholarships, entrepreneurial capital and career services. After you give, you’ll receive a link to create a personalized Drive to 45 digital frame. Post it. Tag us. We’ll feature supporters all day. Give now: https://bit.ly/DriveTo45 Let’s define excellence together. #DriveTo45 #ATLBMBA45 #ExcellenceDefined #GivingTuesday #Leadership #CommunityImpact
