Last week, the 318th Cyberspace Operations Group, Detachment 2 at Nellis Air Force Base, was deactivated, then immediately reactivated under 318th Range Squadron, Detachment 1 with Maj. Jonathan Kim assuming command of the unit. "The operational reason for the realignment was to bring the exercise integration and support elements of the 67th Cyberspace Wing closer together," said Lt. Col. Lee Zaniewski, 318th RANS commander. "Since standing up in 2019, the 318th RANS has matured immensely, shifting our focus from the logical environment to the scenario and specialized technology integration that creates a high-quality testing or training event for our cyber operators. At the same time, we’ve seen an increased demand for high-quality cyber effect operations integration into the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center exercises at Nellis AFB fall on the former Det 2.
