Innovation and risk are two metrics that don't need to be balanced - there is a fallacy somewhere in the question. To assuage investor concerns one needs to clearly identify and articulate avenues for investor exits in the 5 odd years. The obvious ones being IPO and M&A; but there are definitely avenues like Secondaries for the right company. The key factor is an underlying assets that is generating string cash flows and/or is accreting in value due to inherent tech appeal, IP, etc; and in conjunction with a stellar team and traction is poised to upend the status quo in markets that it is expanding to. Ability to do so will mitigate risk concerns and will showcase your innovation in the aura it deserves.
