The key to getting over jet lag is to get your body’s circadian clock aligned with the sunrise and sunset schedule at your destination. Many steps can also be taken to minimize symptoms caused by jet lag. No degree of experience, motivation, medication, coffee, or will power can overcome fatigue. Obtaining adequate sleep is the best way to prevent or resolve fatigue. Sleep provides the body with a period of rest and recuperation.

Take it one day at a time and one flight at a time. If you are fatigued say something. Don’t be tired and say you are fatigued. Know the difference and don’t be afraid to have the conversation with a colleague if you feel they are not bringing their A game to the party

Brief the crew prior to the flight the planned rest periods so they can prepare accordingly. Communication is key. During the flight evaluate the crew and use all available resources to stay alert. FRMS flights generally require the flying pilot to state their condition for the arrival and landing.
