Conflict per se is not harmful and can often be rooted in the misalignment of goals between different stakeholders. If handled well, it can catalyse mutually value-enhancing relationships in the future. In that case, a well-defined stakeholder management plan can be helpful. Identify all stakeholders and rank them according to their power and interests. In other words, what’s in it for them and what's in it for us? What does a win for each party look like, and engage them accordingly? Make sure you engage with honesty and open-mindedness and be willing to be persuaded otherwise.
