Balancing workload in a high-pressure cockpit requires a methodical approach. Initially, the trainee demonstrates proficiency in all tasks, highlighting areas that affect performance. These deficiencies are targeted for improvement, followed by another demonstration. If safety or efficiency is compromised, the trainer steps in at a predefined threshold. Gradual workload increases don’t apply in aviation, where pilots thrive under pressure. Patience is key. As a trainer, remaining calm and focused sets the example. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that, should the trainer be incapacitated, the trainee possesses the skill and confidence to take control, safeguard the aircraft, and bring every passenger home to their families safely
