Adobe has introduced new Photoshop features for image adjustments, AI-assisted editing, text formatting, and Adobe Stock integration. The update adds new editing controls, AI-powered tools, Dynamic Text improvements, and an optional workspace for prompt-based editing.
New editing tools
The Light Adjustment Layer adds the following controls as a non-destructive adjustment layer in Photoshop:
- Exposure
- Contrast
- Highlights
- Shadows
- Whites
- Blacks
These controls provide Camera Raw-level results while keeping the adjustments within Photoshop’s layers workflow.
Instruct Edit with Masks, powered by Firefly Image 5, uses the full context of an image to apply described edits without requiring users to precisely mark every edit area. For example, users can ask Photoshop to open closed eyes or place a hat on a specific person’s head. Areas outside the mask remain untouched, including faces, logos, and brand assets.
Markup lets users draw directly on an image to communicate an intended edit. Users can mark areas to recolor, draw arrows to indicate a position, or brush rough shapes to suggest new elements, providing visual guidance alongside text prompts.
Dynamic Text and Adobe Stock
Dynamic Text, Shapes and Paths extends Photoshop’s Dynamic Text feature to custom shapes and paths. Text can automatically adapt along curves and freeform layouts without requiring manual reformatting.
Stock Panel Integration adds more than 900 million Adobe Stock assets to Photoshop through a dockable panel. Users can discover, preview, and use assets without leaving Photoshop.
AI Assisted Editor
The AI Assisted Editor is a new optional space in Photoshop for prompt-based editing outside the Pro Editor workflow. It is available in beta and includes a dedicated interface with a natural-language prompt bar and generative tools powered by AI models.
The AI Assisted Editor includes:
- Prompt to Edit: Transforms images using natural-language prompts without complex manual editing.
- Remove Background: Removes backgrounds, refines edges, and allows users to customize images.
- Generative Expand: Extends image dimensions and generates content that blends with the existing composition.
- Remove Tool: Removes unwanted objects and distractions while maintaining realistic image quality.
- Generative Fill: Adds, replaces, or removes content using text prompts.
- Generative Upscale: Increases image resolution while preserving sharpness and visual fidelity.
- AI Markup: Lets users annotate images to communicate edits visually and generate more precise results.
Users who prefer the Pro Editor can access Prompt to Edit from Photoshop’s Contextual Task Bar. It provides the same natural-language editing capability and can transform an entire image without requiring a selection. Each Prompt to Edit result becomes a generative layer in the layer stack, keeping the edits organized and non-destructive.
