Listen. Pokemon is for kids lol
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 November 2018This game was made for children and has made sure to streamline story and gameplay as much as possible. It helps to point out where you should head next, and characters are there to give you tips the whole way. On top of that, the catching system is completely different to the average Pokemon game: if you've played Pokemon Go on your phone, it's almost exactly the same
So catching Pokemon is now completely separate from training them. That's why, whenever you catch a Pokemon, all your current party gain XP! It helps make up for the fact that they're not getting stronger by fighting to catch Pokemon anymore. And they all get the XP shared evenly so you can level them up much easier than in other games.
This game is made for young children to visit the Pokemon world and learn its gameplay mechanics. I've seen people my age (mid-twenties) complain that this game is 'too simplistic'.
Tell you what: I was 7 when I got my very first Pokemon game. It was Red, and I played it on the Gameboy Colour. If you don't know anything about the games, just know that I had NO clue what I was doing at that age LMAO there was no colour-coding system. The moves your Pokemon learned had to memorised more so that you knew their effects in battle. I didn't understand why there were moves that did no damage but did things to something called Attack, Defence, Sp Atk, etc. It made no sense to me and I loved the game anyway. You know you SEE the Pokemon in the wild now? You can avoid them by walking around them! We've all joked and laughed about how annoying it was to go into the caves in Pokemon games and get stopped every few seconds by a random Zubat. Now you can see them and choose to catch them or not. To anyone that says that's 'not fair' because it's so much easier; YEAH, that's the point! It's one less annoying thing that kids don't have to suffer through. I remember getting stuck in those types of areas a lot when I was growing up because I'd have so many random battles to slog through.
If you're being asked to get this game for someone but you're worried that it's maybe too targeted for young kids, I'd recommend it any second of the day. I don't play Pokemon for extreme mechanics - I'm here to catch them all like I wanted to when I was on the playground. And you know what? It's so, so much fun to interact with my Pokemon like we all used to pretend to do when we were little.
You walk around with Eevee (or Pikachu, if that's the version you have!) and they're happy to share a journey with you. And you have any Pokemon of your choice walking behind you, looking around and watching for things they like, such as flowers, water, warm sun, ocean waves. It's such a gentle, peaceful feeling to return to this game as an adult and experience it again, except it's been more fully realised.
To massive Pokemon fans: calm down and let yourself re-walk the very first Pokemon trail you took. You're not here to piece together the ultimate battling team, you're here to visit the friends you felt you made when you were still learning how to read properly!
To any newcomers, it's a cute experience that spoonfeeds you the rules of battling and travelling. Thank god they fixed the most frustrating parts of the gameplay, like going forward and back through areas to complete your tasks. It's good that you get to play an 'easier' version without annoying steps that you hate, and you get to separate catching Pokemon from battling WITH them!

Pokemon Evie let's go is really fun to play. Brings back memories of pokemon blue, yellow and red.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 November 2020This game is a really good remake of the original gameboy pokemon blue, red and yellow. Gamefreak has done a really good job of making this game exactly like the original. Only difference is that you choose a character rather then having Ash as main character. So you can choose a girl or a boy and you also get costumes unlocked as you play which was a nice edition to this game.
It's a very fun game and one the whole family can play. Only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the lack of being able to play with a pro controller as I like the play the games through my TV so you have to use one of the switch pads on its own. So you can't use both as a complete pad. But you can play two player with this game which was a nice addition. But pokemon in the party are shared between two players. But it's great other then the little issue of not being able to use pro pad or Nintendo controller as a pad. It's been designed to fully utilise hand held mode. So it's all motion controlled if you throw a pokeball. It's a shame they didn't do it so you could edit the options and turn off motion controls and use a pad. Would of been better if that was possible. But it's still playable and you can still play through the TV but takes some getting used to on one pad rather then having both as a full controller.

a great game that gives as much as it takes from the old games
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 December 2018An excellent experience on the seller’s side of things. I even received my order a couple of days before what was expected! One gripe I do have is that the packaging was a little too much considering the contents (but that’s mostly an Amazon thing).
As far as the game is concerned: I’ve loved Pokemon since the original red&blue on my colour game boy at the age of 10 when I opened my Christmas presents and jumped into a game with 150(+1) playable characters and was instantly hooked! This game is clearly aimed towards two people: the genwunner and the mobile gamer. It’s a game that captures the essence of the original 32bit games I opened that Christmas Day, but adds in some mechanics from the mobile app ‘Pokémon go’ and takes out random encounters & wild battles. If you’re currently reading this with an expression like I have 3 heads then here’s a short conclusion: Pokemon let’s go Pikachu & Eevee is a great game that gives as much as it takes from the old games. If you know someone with a switch this Christmas who loved/loves Pokémon this is a must-have game. Eevee is overpowered!

Great as a first entry into Pokemon
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 March 2023Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! is a fun and exciting game that is sure to delight fans of the Pokémon franchise. Developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo, this game takes players on a journey through the Kanto region, where they must catch and train Pokémon to become the ultimate Pokémon trainer.
One of the standout features of Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! is the integration of the Pokémon Go app, which allows players to transfer Pokémon they have caught in the real world to their game. This adds a unique and exciting element to the game, as players can catch rare Pokémon in the wild and then transfer them to their game to use in battles.
The graphics in Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! are also a major improvement over previous Pokémon games. The game features beautiful, colorful visuals that bring the Kanto region to life, with detailed landscapes and character designs that are sure to impress even the most discerning of players.
In terms of gameplay, Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! offers a fun and engaging experience that is easy to pick up and play, but offers enough depth to keep players engaged for hours on end. The game offers a range of features, from battles against other trainers to exploring new areas and catching new Pokémon.
One potential downside of the game is that it may be too easy for experienced Pokémon players. The game's mechanics are simplified in order to make it more accessible to newcomers to the franchise, which may leave veteran players feeling underwhelmed.
Overall, Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! is a fantastic addition to the Pokémon franchise, offering a fun and engaging experience that is sure to delight fans of all ages. With its unique features, beautiful graphics, and accessible gameplay, this game is definitely worth checking out.

Lots of fun!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 January 2024I love this game, it is accessible, easy to play and very well crafted. Before playing this I had only played Pokemon Sun on the 3DS which had an atrocious amount of bugs and glitches in it rendering it unplayable. Here, I didnt notice anything wrong with it! I'm not an expert on other Pokemon games so can't compare it however I had tons of fun playing this. If you want a great introduction to Pokemon games then I recommend this wholeheartedly.

Vishnu5 out of 5 starsNostalgia !!
Reviewed in India on 9 September 2021This game is best suited for new players and children, as a longtime Pokemon player I found this game a bit underwhelming, still I spent around 60 hrs on it, after beating the game there wasn't much to do, you can shiny hunt for all the Pokemon in the game as there is a greater chance for shiny Pokemon to appear in this game because of the catch combos and catching mechanics.
The Online play is just good for trading, there are no ranked battles and you would have to wait for a long time to get a decent online battle, but you can still battle friends.
The game doesn't have the sevii island quests like leafgreen and fire Red, I wish it had that but the game is a pure remake of the Pokemon Yellow Version but they removed the safari zone in this game which is a dissapointment.
The catch mechanics in this game is a lot similar to Pokemon Go, you can't battle wild Pokemon and you will have to catch lots and lots of Pokemon to progress and level up.
Only the natures of Pokemon matter in this game and there are no other complicated mechanics which makes this game great for new Pokemon players.
The game has beautiful graphics, the best in a Pokemon game, better than Pokemon sword and shield.
I purchased it for nostalgic reasons and I wanted to experience a different Pokemon game and overall it was an okay experience.

Reviewed in the United States on 29 April 2024Let's Go Eevee for the Nintendo Switch is an absolute delight from start to finish. As a lifelong Pokémon fan, I was thrilled to embark on a nostalgic adventure through the Kanto region with my trusty Eevee by my side.
First and foremost, the graphics are stunning. The vibrant colors and detailed environments breathe new life into the familiar landscapes of Kanto, making each location feel fresh and exciting. Whether exploring the lush forests of Viridian City or battling trainers in the bustling streets of Celadon City, every moment is visually captivating.
The gameplay mechanics are intuitive and accessible, making Let's Go Eevee perfect for players of all ages and skill levels. The addition of motion controls adds an extra layer of immersion, allowing you to throw Poké Balls with a flick of the wrist and interact with your Eevee in delightful ways.
Speaking of Eevee, the bond you form with your partner Pokémon is one of the highlights of the game. From petting and feeding it to dressing it up in adorable outfits, there are endless opportunities to strengthen your connection with Eevee and watch it grow alongside you throughout your journey.
