About delivery to military addresses
If you want to order for delivery to a British Forces Post Office (BFPO) address, there is a specific format for entering the address.
Did you mean VAT refunds for orders sent to BFPO and FCO addresses?
How to enter BFPO addresses
BFPO addresses must be entered into the fields in our online order form in a specific format, as shown below:
Standard format for service personnel:
Full name: Service number, rank and name
Address line 1: Company
Address line 2: Leave field blank
Town/City: Regiment
Country: Leave field blank
Postcode: BFPO postcode (for example, BF1 0AB)
Country: United Kingdom
Format for service personnel dependants:
Full name: Name
Address line 1: C/O service number, rank and name
Address line 2: Unit or regiment
Town/City: Operation name (if applicable)
Country: Leave field blank
Postcode: BFPO postcode (for example, BF1 0AB)
Country: United Kingdom
Format for non-service personnel entitled to use BFPO services:
Full name: Staff number (if available), name
Address line 1: Unit/Department (for example, school name)
Address line 2: Unit or regiment
Town/City: Operation name (if applicable)
Country: Leave field blank
Postcode: BFPO postcode (for example, BF1 0AB)
Country: United Kingdom
*Postcode entry for BFPO locations must start with a BF1 or BF2 prefix (e.g. BF1 2AT) like the example above to ensure smooth delivery to the destination address. Additionally, BFPO parcels should not be addressed with a HA4* prefix postcode (e.g. HA4 6DQ). As BFPO post sorting processes are automated, any alteration to the address format highlighted above may cause the parcel to be delayed. A list of BFPO locations and their corresponding postcodes can be found at the British government's British Forces Post Office locations page.
Phone number: Phone numbers are required to troubleshoot delivery issues in case there is a problem with the parcel. Enter a contact number or type "N/A" to proceed
Please refer to the BFPO Services Guide for additional information.
Prohibited items
The BFPO website contains a list of goods that cannot be dispatched to BFPO addresses: Prohibited items.
Amazon delivery restrictions to BFPO addresses:
- Items that cost £100 or more and require a value associated signature
- Items that are heavier than 11 kg
- Items that have package size larger than 61 x 46 x 46 cm
- Items that have a girth of 139 cm or more
- Items that have an age restriction and require a signature and valid photo identification to be presented on delivery to BFPO (for example, some e-cigarette products, blades, alcohol, games and DVD/Blu-ray). To learn more about age restrictions, see our Age restricted items help page.
Alcohol: The BFPO has very strict restrictions on alcoholic shipments. Customers are allowed to purchase alcoholic beverages on Amazon, as long as the alcohol content is below 24% ABV (e.g. beer, wine, champagne, etc.) and the volume for any one item does not exceed one litre. Any alcoholic beverages outside these parameters are strictly prohibited by the BFPO.
If you receive an error message during the checkout, it means that the item cannot be dispatched to a BFPO address.
More information about prohibited items and other delivery policies specific to BFPO addresses can be viewed in the BFPO services guide.
Refunds
Customers who get items delivered to an international BFPO address can get their VAT refunded.
Customers who get items delivered to a UK BFPO address cannot get their VAT refunded. Your VAT refund request must be received within three months of the order being dispatched.
AFPO addresses
Using the APO/FPO post system, we can only deliver within the US, not to forces outside the US.
If the item you want to purchase is offered by our American store, Amazon.com, you can order the item there and pay a local dispatch rate to have your item sent through the APO/FPO system. However, if you cannot purchase the item from Amazon.com, you can buy the item from Amazon.co.uk and ask for it to be delivered internationally to your APO/FPO address in the US. This would involve dispatching your order from the UK to the US, and you will incur an international dispatch charge. See international delivery rates.
