What is Early Access?

It’s a chance to start discovering what the all-new Alexa can do for you. Features will be released on a rolling basis as Alexa continues to get smarter and more capable every day. Alexa may not get everything right and we value feedback from everyone who participates. Just say “Alexa, I have feedback.”

Who will get Early Access?

We have started rolling out Alexa+ Early Access to customers in the UK who own or purchase a compatible Echo device. We will expand Early Access to more customers over time – you will be notified when it's available to you. Once you have access, Alexa+ will start working across all your compatible devices and the Alexa app.

Which devices are compatible?

Alexa+ will work on most Echo devices, with the exception of certain older generation Echo devices (e.g. Echo Dot 1st generation, Echo Show 1st generation), where you can continue to use the original Alexa. For more details on which devices are available, click here.

How do customers get early access to Alexa+?

To learn more about Alexa+ Early Access, click here. We will start rolling out Alexa+ Early Access to UK customers who own an eligible device. Customers will be notified by e-mail and device notifications once access is granted. We will expand Early Access to more Echo customers over time. Once you have access and opt in, Alexa+ will start working across all your compatible Echo devices, Fire TV devices and the Alexa app. Your Alexa+ access will also expand to your web browser as it becomes available in Early Access.

What devices are compatible with Alexa+?

  • When you get access to Alexa+ it will work on all Echo devices, with the exception of certain older generation Echo devices like Echo Dot 1st generation, Echo 1st generation, Echo Plus 1st generation, Echo Show 1st generation, Echo Show 2nd generation and Echo Spot 1st generation, on which you can continue to use the original Alexa.
  • Compatible Fire TV devices include Fire TV stick 4K Select, Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen).
  • This experience is not currently supported on Fire Tablets, Alexa Built-in devices and Amazon Astro, however we look forward to expanding Alexa+ to Alexa on web and to more devices this year.

What languages is Alexa+ available in?

Alexa+ is currently only available in English for customers in the UK. Device language must be set to “English”. To change your language settings, go to the Alexa app or on-device by going to Settings > Device options > Device Language.

Can my child access Alexa+ on their Kids Edition Echo devices?

Yes. Alexa+ is an assistant for the whole family. Parents can make the Alexa+ Kids experience available to their children on Kids Edition Echo devices or by creating and enabling a child profile with Parental Permission. Parents can set up a device to run the Alexa+ Kids experience exclusively, or, if the device is shared by members of the household, parents can set up voice ID for their children so the device automatically turns on the Alexa+ Kids experience when an enrolled child is recognised. When an enrolled child profile is recognised or Alexa+ Kids experience is enabled on the device, our GenAI content moderation applies additional child-specific guardrails on top of the standard protections designed for general audiences.

Will Amazon Kids+ work with Alexa+?

Alexa+ is compatible with Amazon Kids+. With Alexa+ and an Amazon Kids+ subscription, you'll have access to new features like Explore with Alexa. Learn more about Amazon Kids+ subscription.

What will Alexa+ cost?

Alexa+ will come at no additional cost during Early Access. After Early Access ends, you will not be automatically charged and Alexa+ will be a free benefit with your Prime membership. For non-Prime customers, you can sign up for Alexa+ for £19.99/month.

Will the original Alexa still be available?

We're positive you'll love all that Alexa+ has to offer – greater intelligence, more conversation and a striking array of new, proactive capabilities. However, if you prefer using the original Alexa, it will remain available on your devices.
