The Scratch Team never mentions the name of Snap!. But Snap! has to mention due to legal reasons. Does Snap! have any direct relationship with the Scratch Team? Reply by Snap! Developers appreciated.
Relationship With the Scratch Team
We're friends with the Scratch Team, I used to be on the Scratch Team some years ago, that's where and how BYOB and Snap! started, as a prototype for Scratch. We love Scratch, and we like to give credit.
There are no legal reasons for us to mention Scratch. Snap's code base is completely independent from Scratch. We don't have to mention Scratch, but we love to.
I see.
Do you still have a Scratch account?
of course! "jens"
I just followed you. Same one as of Snap!.
Then why does the scratch wiki say that Snap! is a mod of scratch?
It calls BYOB a mod. Ref: An earlier version, BYOB, was a modification of the Scratch 1.4 source code, but the current version is an entirely separate program, even though its user interface looks like Scratch 1.4 and it includes almost all of its primitive blocks. -from Scratch Wiki, https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Snap!_(programming_language)
oh, didn't see that.
Okay.
The name of @jens and @bh is in it, too. Ref: BYOB was originally developed by Scratcher Jens; as of BYOB 3.0, Scratcher bharvey joined as co-developer. (The code is still almost all written by Jens; bharvey has contributed to the design, libraries, and documentation, as well as online mentoring of Snap ! users.) -from Scratch Wiki, https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Snap!_(programming_language)
Can you help me with something, please?
