Omega Aerial Refueling Services Participates in First Ever Successful Unmanned In-Flight Refueling with the X-47B Omega Aerial Refueling Services, Inc. is proud to have participated in the U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air System demonstrator program, proving the ability to conduct in-flight refueling with the unmanned Northrop Grumman X-47B aircraft. On April 22, 2015 an Omega KC-707 tanker successfully offloaded 4,100 pounds of fuel to the X-47B, surpassing U.S. Navy program goals. This demonstration marked the first time in history that an unmanned aircraft has successfully been refueled mid-air, and is a ground-breaking step forward that will help determine the path of naval aviation in years to come. Omega Aerial Refueling Services congratulates Vice Admiral David Dunaway, Vice Admiral Mike Shoemaker, Captain Beau Duarte, the entire team at U.S. Naval Air Systems Command, Northrop Grumman, and the dedicated Omega pilots and team on the program’s success.
