The six finalist proposals are exhibited on this web site, at the City Library and in other places around Stockholm.
The great challenge facing the architects in this stage of the competition has been to demonstrate in a credible way that their proposals are feasible and will withstand a future development and implementation process. The architects have been asked to develop their proposal especially when it comes to more visible and accessible entrances, developed library functions and how the new extension connects to the Asplund building in a good way.
The jury will now assess the entries and anticipates to be ready before the end of the year. At the beginning of 2008, an investment decision will be prepared by the relevant expert committees within the City of Stockholm for adoption by the Stockholm City Council, based on the winning proposal.
In parallel the formal planning process has begun and will run concurrently with the competition. When the competition has been concluded, the planning process will continue with the winning proposal as basis.

De sex finalisternas förslag ställs ut på denna webbplats, på Stadsbiblioteket i Rotundan och på andra platser runt om i Stockholm.
Den stora utmaningen för arkitekterna i detta skede av tävlingen var att på ett trovärdigt sätt visa att deras förslag är genomförbara och kommer att tåla en fortsatt utvecklings- och genomförandeprocess. Arkitekterna har ombetts att utveckla sina förslag bland annat med tydliga och tillgängliga entréer, tydliga biblioteksfunktioner och att det nya biblioteket ”dockar in” i Asplundbyggnaden på ett bra sätt.
Juryn kommer nu att bedöma förslagen och förväntas vara klar innan årets slut. I början av 2008 planeras kommunfullmäktige ta ett investeringsbeslut baserat på det vinnande förslaget.
Samtidigt har den formella planeringsprocessen startat och den löper parallellt med tävlingen. När tävlingen avgjorts fortsätter planprocessen med det vinnande förslaget som grund.
