The Umbrella Wisdom is an NGO based in the slums of Mangga Dua, Jakarta, Indonesia which provides free education for 126 children aged 4 to 16 years old from families which are living below minimum wage. As an active team worker with expertise in Marketing, Media management, and Communications, I was chosen by the University Of South Australia School of Communication to work within a diverse team of talented students to represent the University, competing at the P2P International Challenge. The challenge require University students from around the world compete, develop and execute campaigns and social media strategies against extremism that are credible, authentic, and believable to their peers and resonate within their communities. The P2P Challenge enables students to group together to create a student-led social media agency, perform primary research on the target audience, then using a $2,000 USD operational budget design, pilot, implement, and measure the success of a social or digital initiative, product or tool. Teams will be competing for the chance to present their campaigns in Washington, D.C. to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the U.S. Department of State and other intergovernmental agency senior leaders.
The diverse team of 15 students specialising in the fields of Software Engineering, Marketing, Media, Journalism, Political Science, Visual Communications, and Psychology, were carefully selected by the teaching staff to create a campaign to preventing the spread of extremist radicalisation through digitalisation to promote unity in diversity. As a member of the Communications team, my job is to identify the target audience and the key messages of the campaign through extensive research, situational analysis, discourse analysis, audience analysis, and cross-cultural studies. I am also responsible to develop integrated communication tactics to transmit the campaign messages towards the targeted public. As a high achieving student and is an engaged member of the UniSA community, University of South Australia Business School invited me to join a team of students in preparing an international re-accreditation report to leverage the University's global ranking. Within the team, I was responsible in assessing and promoting the University's governance in facilitating socio-cultural engagement for better collaborative learning. The effort turned out to be an effective strategy for the entity as it successfully boosted the University's global reputation and brand awareness. The team received a letter of appreciation from UniSA Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Marie Wilson, for our contribution. Furthermore, every single member of the team was granted the Future Leader Award 2016 from the Business School for this international marketing achievement.
