  • Earlier this month, Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and the Ministry of Justice announced a significant step forward in the fight against knife crime: a mandatory, tailored support plan for every child caught carrying a weapon. At Axon, we believe that tackling the root causes of violence requires a blend of policy and community-led intervention. That is why we are proud to continue our long-term partnership with FazAmnesty and Faron Paul. Through our collaboration, Axon has provided the FazAmnesty Community Engagement Van, which serves as a mobile hub for anonymous weapon surrender and a vital resource for engaging with young people in schools and clubs nationwide. We’ve also equipped the FazAmnesty team with Axon’s Body 4 cameras to ensure their safety and provide real-time streaming capabilities during community outreach. By supporting FazAmnesty’s work, we are helping ensure those interventions are backed by the tools and mobility needed to turn young lives away from crime. #KnifeCrime #ProtectLife #PublicSafety

Knife crime is a tragedy and destroys communities and lives. But the reasons why young people pick up knives are complex and varied, often on a case-by-case basis. Last week we announced earlier and more targeted intervention. This includes giving each child caught with a knife a mandatory plan tailored for their individual situation and investing £320 million into Youth Justice Services to deliver this work. The Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and @Faron Paul, an anti-knife campaigner who was previously involved in knife crime, discuss why young people pick up knives and how to tackle this issue at the root. 📹 ⬇️

West Midlands Police officers are some of the first in the country to patrol equipped with the new Taser, the T10. The Home Secretary approved the use of the Axon Taser 10 (T10) by UK forces in October last year, when West Midlands Police immediately implemented its roll out plan. As part of that plan, around 60 officers have already been trained in its use and are now patrolling the region’s streets with the new device. The T10 will replace the current Taser X2 device, which will be phased out as officers complete their annual refresher course, while new carriers will automatically be taught with the T10. Taser works by delivering a pulse of electricity into a person's muscles which spasm causing them to freeze or drop to the ground. It is a tactical option for officers to use where a threat is present. Features of the new T10 Taser: • Increased firing range - with a maximum range of almost 13 metres, almost double the range of the X2, Taser 10 creates more time and space to de-escalate and resolve conflicts. • No more misses - when de-escalation fails, Taser 10 can deploy up to 10 individually targeted probes without the need to reload. X2 provided only two. • Safer outcomes - Taser 10 advancements in accuracy, effectiveness and reliability mean less likelihood of escalation and the need to use firearms. • Warning mode - this version now has a 1,000-lumen strobe light to help with de-escalation and may prevent a discharge due to the ability to disorientate beforehand. • Officer efficiency – automatic data downloads means officers no longer need to manually download data every eight-weeks freeing them up to carry on with patrols or investigations. As part of the project, existing systems have been upgraded, over 30 West Midlands armouries configured with additional power and data, training developed and a roll-out plan implemented. West Midlands Police has over 1,400 Taser-trained officers patrolling all areas of the West Midlands. That number is based on an annual threat assessment carried out by the force which examines numerous factors to arrive at the number of officers who will be equipped with Taser to meet the determined threat and risk. Between August 2024 and July 2025, Taser was used 1,558 times in the West Midlands with the devices fired in just 106 of those incidents. Bodyworn video cameras are automatically activated when Taser is drawn. Chief Inspector Tim Robinson, from West Midlands Police, said: “Taser is a highly effective tool for officers who are well trained in its safe use”. “In most cases, the officer drawing Taser and using good communication is enough to end the incident, without ever discharging the device”. “It is rightly one of the most scrutinised tactics that we have in policing. That level of transparency helps build public trust and confidence in policing”. Read more about the use of T10 Tasers on our website 👉 https://orlo.uk/v8f6J

  • Great to see the Metropolitan Police highlighting the intense, behind-the-scenes work of their interceptor teams tackling phone snatching across London. 📱🚔 As these crimes become more sophisticated, delivering justice depends on the quality of the evidence captured in those first critical hours. At Axon, we are proud to support the Met with the tools that make this possible — from body-worn cameras to digital interviews — that provide a transparent record of the pursuit, arrest and subsequent investigation. Great work to all the teams involved in keeping our streets safe. #PublicSafety

Join us on the frontline as we go behind the scenes with the Met’s Police Interceptors during Operation Skylord — a fast‑focused mission to target phone‑snatching gangs in London’s West End. Using Surron e‑bikes, specialist interceptor cars, motorcycles, drones and live facial recognition technology, officers track suspects in real time and work to break up the networks behind phone thefts in central London. From stopping live incidents and tracing stolen vehicles to supporting major operations, the Interceptors play a key role in keeping London safe and cutting down on phone theft.

  • New statistics from the Home Office reveal a sobering reality for UK policing: 1 in 5 police officers were assaulted last year. That’s 31,368 people dedicated to protecting our communities.   These figures aren’t just data points; they represent thousands of individuals facing high-pressure, often dangerous situations every day. No one should have to face being assaulted as ‘part of the job’.   Protecting those who protect us means providing them with a connected ecosystem of technology designed to de-escalate, document, and defend: • The TASER 10 energy weapon gives officers increased confidence to resolve threats from a safer distance, often without discharging the device, preventing a physical confrontation before it begins. • Our Axon Body 4 cameras don’t just capture evidence; they serve as a digital witness that can modify behaviour in the moment and provide absolute transparency for use-of-force reviews. • Through Axon VR, we are helping officers train for high-stress encounters in a safe environment, building the muscle memory needed to make split-second decisions that keep everyone safe. Technology should equip police officers with the tools they need to protect both the public and themselves. We remain committed to our mission to #ProtectLife and to reducing these numbers through innovation that prioritises officer safety.   #Axon #ProtectLife #PublicSafety #Innovation

  • West Midlands Police has officially rolled out the TASER 10, marking a significant step forward in the force’s commitment to officer safety.   As one of the first forces in the UK to deploy our most advanced energy device, West Midlands Police is now equipped to manage threats from a safer distance. With a range of up to 45ft (13.7m) and a 10-shot capacity, the TASER 10 provides officers with more opportunities to de-escalate high-pressure situations without the need for physical confrontation.   When integrated into the Axon ecosystem, this technology ensures that every use is: · Transparent by automatically alerting body-worn cameras to ensure an independent digital record of the event. · Proportionate by giving officers the precision to de-escalate threats safely. · Accountable by providing rigorous data for review and scrutiny as required.   We are proud to support West Midlands Police as they embrace innovation to build a safer, more confident environment for both their officers and the communities they serve.   Read more about the rollout and the impact of TASER 10 here: https://lnkd.in/gQZqN3un   #Axon #ProtectLife #PublicSafety #TASER10

  • This week, the second part of Sir Brian Leveson’s Independent Review of the Criminal Courts was published, a landmark report examining backlogs in our criminal justice system.   Beyond structural reforms, Sir Brian calls for courts and the criminal justice system to ‘embrace the opportunities that technology and AI give us’. This requires a technological modernisation of the entire system. Axon stands ready to meet this challenge.   Sir Brian’s report blueprints a future where AI handles the heavy lifting of evidence gathering and management. This starts in the field, where Axon’s Draft One software uses AI and body-worn camera audio to produce high-quality reports in seconds that are automatically uploaded to Axon Evidence before the officer even returns to the station.   Our AI-enabled Real-Time Translation technology was also featured as a key case study in the report as a model for how technology can deliver change for the better. Sir Brian highlighted how this tool, integrated into our body-worn cameras, is already helping officers bridge communication gaps across 50+ languages in real-time.   At Axon, we see this as more than efficiency. It’s about giving officers the time to do the job they signed up for - protecting the public and serving their community.   Read more about our contribution to the Leveson Report: https://lnkd.in/gWhbsyBS   #PublicSafety #Axon #Innovation #PoliceReform #ProtectLife

  • Trust isn’t built with authority; it’s built by meeting people where they are. We recently spent an afternoon on patrol in South London with Faron Paul and the FazAmnesty team to see their work in action. From the gates of Croydon College to the West Croydon bus terminal, we witnessed firsthand what community-led intervention looks like. The impact was visible in every interaction: • Real-time intervention: Within minutes of arriving, a young person approached Faron to surrender a large knife — no warning, just a quiet moment of trust that potentially saved a life. • Community presence: From parents offering thanks to local TikTok creators stopping to film, the team’s presence broke down barriers and created a safe space for young people to respond. • Mentorship in motion: Seeing young volunteers train for security qualifications while on patrol shows how FazAmnesty provide more than safety; they offer mentorship and a professional roadmap for the next generation. At Axon, we believe technology should support prevention as much as response. By equipping the team with Axon body-worn cameras and a new community engagement van, we’re helping FazAmnesty expand its reach to more streets, more schools, and more lives. • Public safety professionals are doing more than ever — and the environment they’re working in has fundamentally changed. Innovation in public safety isn’t about blame or keeping up. It’s about recognising that the job has evolved and giving agencies the space — and support — to rethink how the system works around them. In a new blog post, Vishal Dhir, Senior Vice President, Commonwealth, shares a clear message: as evidence becomes more complex and expectations continue to rise, technology alone isn’t the answer. Real progress happens when tools are paired with process change, policy alignment and the courage to ask harder questions. The agencies leading tomorrow aren’t just upgrading technology. They’re reinventing systems to help public safety professionals keep doing the vital work they already do — more efficiently and with greater impact.
