Lesley Henderson liked thisLesley Henderson liked thisIt’s time for an update. After a long and rewarding chapter at #Google, it’s time for a change of pace. I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of the Cloud business we built there and owe a lot to the executive leadership team and the many colleagues I’ve been lucky to have partnered with over the years. I am forever grateful. After a brief pause I’m now turning my focus to the next frontier of software development by joining the team at Sonar to lead our talented EMEA sales team. The rise of agentic AI is fundamentally disrupting the entire software development lifecycle across every industry today. Ensuring the quality and security of both human-written and AI-generated code has never been more critical. Sonar is at the center of that mission, and it's a great opportunity to reunite with Tariq Shaukat , Richard Harshman , and several former colleagues to help scale the platform. I couldn’t have picked a better next chapter.

Epassi stood out to me for several reasons: it is a business with genuine scale, serving 30 million employees across 10 countries and generating over €200 million in annual recurring revenue. The product significantly enhances people's working lives, and the company has a clear ambition to become Europe's leading digital employee benefits platform. With the support of Warburg Pincus LLC Pincus and TA Associates, we are well-equipped for the next phase of growth. Lesley Henderson liked thisFantastic partnership!Lesley Henderson liked thisIt has been fantastic to see such positive response since we announced our five-year partnership with Unilever. Now that the news is out, I want to double down on why this collaboration is so transformative. The consumer goods landscape is shifting at record speed. To stay ahead, we have to do more than simply evolve infrastructure, we have to fundamentally change how businesses operate. By combining Google Cloud’s advanced AI with Unilever’s deep consumer insight and rich data environment, we aren't just building better IT; we are building a true system of intelligence. This means creating an ecosystem that actively reasons, learns and acts to meet the needs of billions of consumers worldwide. Together with Sam Kini and the Unilever team, we are moving past simply preparing for the future of CPG. We are defining it 🤝

Lesley Henderson liked thisLesley Henderson liked thisAfter just over four years, and more trains and airplanes than I can be bothered to count, I’ve decided to leave my role at Sparks EMEA. Not forgetting that I led the artist formerly known as Freeman EMEA for half of that time, before it became Sparks (following Freeman’s acquisition in 2023). Across both chapters I’ve had the chance to work with some talented people, and importantly clients who trusted the agency with some pretty high-stakes challenges. Despite the industry grappling with the ongoing headaches that our unpredictable world continues to produce, it still succeeds in attracting smart, creative, slightly obsessive individuals who care deeply about doing things properly. Being around that every day still gets me out of bed (and sprinting towards the coffee machine!). A big thank you to the many colleagues, partners and clients I’ve had the chance to work with at Sparks…too many to name here, but a few who made the journey particularly memorable include: Adam Charles, Natasha Barnes, Trin Bharij-Basra, Caroline Sparkes 💫 Russ Blandford, Bronwyn Evans, Becci Brown (FCCA), Leigh-Ann Hennessy I’m going to take a very short breath before sharing what’s next… onwards and northwards 😉

Lesley Henderson liked thisLesley Henderson liked thisThis morning I got up at 4:40 per usual but instead of lacing up, I immediately joined a group Google chat with coworkers I've been working hand in hand with for months as "Day 1" was finally here. Like clockwork we worked through the minute by minute timeline until all tasks were updated to "complete" without any hiccups due to flawless planning. It's rare to get to work with a team of such talented individuals and even more special when what you are working on will truly revolutionize how we keep our customers secure. Of course this means this is just the start and the real work starts now. BUT for the next hour I'm going to let this sink in and celebrate the best way I know how...with a celebratory run. No moderated zone 2 this morning 😁 Huge congrats to all involved. “Lesley has produced and managed the Innovation Awards Program and Dinner at the EMEAR Cisco Live conferences for the last four years. Each year she enhanced the total customer experience while managing to a very tight budget. The result has been a series of compelling events enjoying the highest ratings from Industry Analysts and Award finalists alike (even the runners up left with a smile on their faces). Lesley is an excellent, persistent and considerate business partner; a diplomat, an accomplished programme manager (she concurrently managed several other significant projects during the EMEAR Cisco Live conferences); an efficient and creative problem solver who is never flustered (even with the most difficult of individuals); and most important of all she brings energy and positivity at all times. I would jump at the chance to collaborate with her again in the future.”

I've had this post-it on my desk for years 📌- I got it from a friend, and I think it's a great system of thinking about your work, career and values. I thought I'd share it in case it's helpful for others. It's a delightfully simple framework that evaluates opportunities and roles based Benefits, Culture, Purpose - to be fulfilled, a *minimum* of 2 out of 3 must fit. To break it down a bit: 1️⃣ Benefits - this one is mostly about compensation. Not time-off policies or foosball tables, mind you. 2️⃣ Culture (of autonomy) - this is the freedom to exercise your own judgment to deliver results. Just like you can't have taxation without representation, you can't have accountability without authority. 3️⃣ Purpose - this one's about meaning. Meaning can be different things - ambition of building something truly great, a greater societal good, or a deeply relevant artistic pursuit. This works well both for evaluating where you are right now, or whether you should accept a new opportunity. If you have 3 out of 3 it's perfection, but 2 out of 3 is acceptable because at the very least there are enough "resources" to grow a career. If it's less than two is a sign you are treading water, and change is needed to feel fulfilled (either emotionally or financially). This system is actually worth revisiting regularly even if you are happy - reflection is a great habit to have, and it helps spot problems sooner rather than later. P.S. It's also a good system because it's fairly versatile - you can swap out autonomy for clarity of expectations & guidelines and it'll still work. P.P.S. Excuse the tiny bitemarks, I have two cats who and post-it notes are their favorite food😺

Great to make my debut this week for Information Security Buzz, with my interview with ARMO CEO Shauli Rozen talking about why Cloud-Endpoint-Application Detection and Response needed to be joined together for better visibility. The concept of its 'CADR' is to minimize the cloud attack surface and detect and respond to both unknown and known cyberattacks, while ensuring business continuity. https://lnkd.in/eQZ8PvNv

Not everyone has a spare four hours to listen to a great Acquired podcast about Google, and thanks to a couple of recent weekend-long runs, I’m here to share some good stuff 😀 I’ve worked at Google, and I thought I knew most of the key milestones of their history, but in the episode, co-hosts Ben Gilbert and David Rosenthal explain, using their unique approach, some of the most fascinating parts of Google’s evolution: 1. How the company created the web ecosystem to build a moat against Microsoft 2. How they successfully led the next platform evolution when the mobile paradigm came to exist with their bets on Android First, the web ecosystem. In the early 2000s, Microsoft was already way ahead in the tech market, having made its bet on hardware and downloadable software for that hardware. Google, on the other hand, was making a different bet. They started launching products that had (apparently) nothing to do with their original purpose: things like Gmail, Maps, Docs, and Sheets. However, by building a rich web ecosystem that spanned multiple areas, they laid the groundwork for indispensability. Today, Google has seven products with 1B+ users EACH. Moving on to Google’s brilliant navigation of a platform shift from web to mobile. Two decades ago, as smartphones were beginning to proliferate, Windows and Apple were dominating. Google had to figure out how to avoid missing the mobile platform play. So they did something witty: they went with a “less than free” model, which incentivized the distribution engine to prefer Android. With “less than free, ” Google let OEMs use their products for free AND whenever the phone owner Google-searched something that generated ad revenue, the manufacturer would get a cut. Meanwhile, Windows was charging OEMs to use their software. With OEMs benefiting financially from Android users’ Google searches, Google quickly captured 70-80% of the smartphone market in just a few years. There are several other great insights in the episode, which is linked in the comments. PS - A picture I took while listening to this episode.
