Always a special occasion as a series of brave young adults share their stories to a packed 500-strong audience, outlining how this amazing charity made a positive intervention to put them on paths to a positive future. A pleasure for me to co-host the evening with the brilliant Darren Fletcher. A shout out to David Ford and all the event committee, who work throughout the year to organise a fantastic event to ensure that Dr Marcellus Baz BEM and his brilliant team can continue to undertake such important work. Also a mention to the Built Environment community in Nottingham, who turn up every year and dig deep to raise much needed funds. Having had the privilege to work in many different parts of the world within our great sector, it is something special when ‘Team Nottingham’ come together. Thank you.

Ian Shearer liked thisIan Shearer liked thisToday’s RICS led AI panel at UKREiiF marked a clear shift in the industry conversation: focusing on the ethical adoption of AI and how its implementation requires human oversight in order to build trust. Bringing together senior leaders from across property, construction, infrastructure and professional services, the session explored how firms can embrace AI-enabled transformation without compromising trust, professional judgement or the development of future talent. Gleeds’ James Garner joined the panel discussion, bringing both practitioner insight and institutional authority to the conversation. As co-author of the RICS Responsible Use of AI guidance alongside Nella Pang FRICS, James positioned the debate firmly around governance and professional trust, not fear driven resistance to innovation. James also highlighted how firms can adopt AI responsibly without compromising trust, professional judgement or future talent development. Ultimately, James challenged the industry to adapt as AI begins to transform how we work. A timely and important discussion and one that Gleeds looks forward to evolving as we continue to shape the future of the built environment. #UKREiiF2026

Ian Shearer liked thisIan Shearer liked this3 days until Edinburgh Marathon 🏃🏽♀️✨ Definitely one of the hardest things I’ve trained for; months of training through freezing cold mornings, wind, rain and dark early starts… only for marathon week to arrive with a mini heatwave ☀️🤭 A lot of discipline, early alarms and long runs have gone into getting to this point. I feel privileged to be taking on a charity place and raising money for Cancer Research — a charity very close to my heart. Looking forward to finally taking it all in on Sunday ☺️✨ A little reminder: even if you feel okay and have no symptoms, please keep up with your routine smear tests, check your breasts, and for men, book regular blood tests to monitor your prostate health ❤️ https://lnkd.in/eVfwb2tM

I've had the privilege of working across the globe leading enterprise technology transformations, building extraordinary teams, and growing in ways I never could have anticipated when I walked through the doors in 2008. What made WSP special wasn't just the scale of the work, it was the people! The colleagues who became mentors, the mentors who became friends, the teams who pushed me to be a better leader every single day, I can’t thank you enough. To the leaders who shaped me (past and present) thank you. Whether you gave me my first real opportunity, challenged me when I needed it most, or simply believed in what was possible. You know who you are, and your impact on my career is immeasurable. I'm now taking everything I've learned into a new arena. I’m joining DLA Piper as Head of IT Platforms. In this role I'll be leading across SAP CoE, ServiceNow, Cloud, Data, Integration, and M365 Advanced platforms — bringing all platform capabilities under a single leadership model within a global law firm. A sector full of complexity and transformation opportunity. A new chapter. A new challenge. The same passion.
