“Bolt-on” security doesn’t work for AI. Most security programs were built around adding controls after systems exist. That breaks down fast with AI. When models touch data, workflows, users, and decisions simultaneously: You can’t secure them in isolation You can’t rely on legacy DLP or point tools And you can’t prioritize risk without full context AI security isn’t about adding another layer. We spoke to Shannon Murphy from TrendAI about understanding how assets, data, identity, and behavior connect in real time. Without context, security teams don’t just miss risk. They get overwhelmed by it. Full episode in the links below! #AISecurity #AIGovernance #CyberSecurity #SecurityLeadership #EnterpriseAI

Earlier today, I came across a post from Stefania Giannini on X that stuck with me: “Attacks on schools, teachers & learners are increasing. Education is a right #NotATarget.” Our generation probably had it better compared to now because attacks on education are not just physical assaults on schools but they are direct blows to the future of entire communities. Protecting education today also means preparing learners for tomorrow. That’s why digital literacy must be part of the conversation. In conflict zones and beyond, the ability to safely and responsibly navigate digital spaces allows students to keep learning, access opportunities, and stay connected even when classrooms are disrupted. It’s also inspiring to see foundations stepping up to advance SDG 4: Quality Education. Shout-out to: • Jacobs Foundation foundation – investing in evidence-based education globally • Varkey Foundation – elevating teachers worldwide through the Global Teacher Prize • Cuppy Foundation Foundation – championing education access, digital learning, and student support in Nigeria and beyond. You’re doing great Florence Otedola • Eido Foundation, Lifecrown Foundation, SEED Care & Support Foundation – strengthening access to education in underserved Nigerian communities Education, whether offline or online, must never be a target. It must be safeguarded, strengthened, and prioritized everywhere. #ProtectEducationFromAttack #EducationForAll #DigitalLiteracy #UNESCO #SDG4

So, there are rules that have been created on your document libraries but the creator of those has now left the business. Who can manage them now? Following up on a few questions that have come my way after showing how you can "potentially" have a few quid by creating some business process functionality yourself. And I knew there would be a few 😜. Let's take a look at what the experience is like and who can and cannot manage rules that have been created on SharePoint Document Libraries. Hope this clarifies things for you. And yes, this is not "the" solution for all things and all use cases but does work well for its intended purpose.

🔁 Continual Service Improvement (CSI) in ITSM: Not a Phase—A Culture In today's fast-evolving tech landscape, delivering consistent, high-quality IT services is non-negotiable. But excellence isn't a destination—it's a journey. That's where Continual Service Improvement (CSI) comes in. 🚀 What is CSI? CSI is a core ITIL process focused on identifying and implementing improvements to IT services that support business processes. It's not just about fixing what's broken but enhancing what already works. 📍 Where Should CSI Be Implemented? Everywhere IT touches the business: In service strategy, to align services with changing business goals. In design, to incorporate feedback loops. In operations, to streamline processes and reduce incidents. In governance, to reinforce compliance and performance metrics. CSI should be embedded in all service lifecycle stages, not treated as a standalone phase. 🕒 When Should CSI Be Implemented? Always. CSI is an ongoing discipline, not a one-time event. Triggered by: Performance reports Customer feedback Incident trend analysis Major changes or deployments Start before problems escalate—CSI is proactive, not just reactive. 🔁 How Frequently Should CSI Be Done? Regularly scheduled reviews (monthly or quarterly) Ad hoc reviews in response to incidents, audits, or new technologies Real-time feedback loops, where possible, using automation and monitoring Remember: CSI thrives in a data-driven, feedback-rich environment. ✅ Key Takeaway CSI isn't just an ITSM best practice—it's a mindset. The most successful organizations treat continual improvement as a cultural norm, not a checklist. 🔄 How is your organization embedding CSI into its service culture? Share in comments 👇 📷 Source: ITIL Book #ITSM #CSI #ITIL #ServiceImprovement #DigitalTransformation #ContinuousImprovement #ServiceManagement

RIM Essentials: Concept 21: What is Metadata? This series focuses on a resource I wrote many moons ago, but continue to keep updated, called Records Management Essentials – Basic Records and Information Management Concepts. Buckle in for a fun journey down RM and IM lane. What does metadata and a tin of baked beans have in common? Metadata is a word you will hear often as you learn more about records and information management. Metadata is effectively “data about data.” Metadata performs the same function as a label on a tin can. If there is no label, we do not know what it is. If we label it correctly, we do. Metadata is the same but applied to our information. For example, an unlabelled, sealed tin could contain motor oil, baked beans or cat food. The only way to ascertain its contents is to open it. A label, however, describes what is inside the tin and allows us to make an informed decision about whether to buy it or open it. For a tin of baked beans, the label is likely to include the product name, the creator of the product, the ingredients, the use by date and the nutritional value. In the Records Management Standard, Principle Three guides us to “Assign records management metadata to records and aggregations” (aggregations means “a group of records”). All records that public offices create must have the following metadata: • Unique identifier • Name • Date created • Business activity documented • Name and version of the software application used to create or document the record • Any later actions carried out on the record, such as accessing, modifying or disposing of the record • Identification of the persons or systems carrying out those later actions • Dates those actions were carried out In summary, Metadata is effectively ‘data about data’. Metadata performs the same function as a label on a tin can. If there is no label, we don’t know what it is. If we label it correctly, we do. Metadata is the same thing but applied to our information.
