Andy Peddar shared thisMost of the conversation around AI-augmented engineering is still too binary - either hype or scepticism. What we’re seeing in practice is much more grounded. Productivity gains are real, but only where organisations treat AI as a structural shift, not just another tool in the box. That means rethinking how teams are structured, how work is delivered, and how quality and governance are maintained, not just layering AI on top of existing processes. We’ve been leaning into this with our partners and clients - taking an AI-first approach to delivery, supported by AI-enhanced engineering and the right guardrails around it. We’ve pulled together some of our thinking and what we’re seeing across the market here. For the outcomes of the survey, see here: https://lnkd.in/eTaSae_vState of Play: the Deazy take on AI-Augmented Engineering moving into 2026State of Play: the Deazy take on AI-Augmented Engineering moving into 2026Deazy

Andy Peddar shared thisOver the past few months, I’ve spoken with CIOs, CTOs, and other senior leaders about how AI is actually landing inside their organisations. One theme keeps coming up: PoCs aren’t the hard part - moving from PoC to production is. The friction isn’t just organisational. It’s a mix of technical challenges (reliability, security, observability), governance and ownership, and confidence to scale commercially and operationally. On 4th March, I’m looking forward to sharing some of these cross-industry insights and comparing notes with peers at a small CIO WaterCooler roundtable, alongside Marko Ivanovski from Aveni. If you’re grappling with that transition, I’d love you to join the discussion and share what you’re seeing too.Andy Peddar shared thisMany AI proofs of concept or prototypes look promising but far fewer reliably make it to production. On 4th March, Deazy is hosting a tech leader roundtable with CIO WaterCooler, lead by Andy Peddar (CEO at Deazy) and Marko Ivanovski (CTO at Aveni), to unpack why AI POCs stall, and what needs to change to turn early AI work into outcomes that matter to your business. If you’re grappling with scaling AI beyond experimentation, this one’s for you. https://lnkd.in/eCRNb349From POC to Production: Why Enterprise AI Struggles to ScaleFrom POC to Production: Why Enterprise AI Struggles to Scale

Andy Peddar shared thisMassive congratulations David Carey - CTO of the Year is richly deserved! Your leadership and product-led tech vision in building a Popeyes-owned, differentiated end-to-end ordering ecosystem have been key to supporting the brand’s scale from 1 to 100+ UK stores. It’s been a real pleasure partnering with you and the wider Popeyes Louisiana Chicken UK - with a Deazy team led by Ella-Jo Gange - to help bring that vision to life at pace Brilliant to see the recognition, well done. 👏Andy Peddar shared thisI’m proud to share that I’ve been named CTO of the Year at the Restaurant Marketer & Innovator awards. This recognition also belongs to our amazing Digital & Tech team including David Jewell, Daniel Dicker, ANDREW R., Taufiq Arbi, Marina Lobo, Tariq Lockwood, Lee Johnson, Andy Hornby & Harry Trussler who’ve embraced innovation and helped deliver industry‑leading initiatives that are transforming how we serve our customers.

Andy Peddar posted thisOver the past few years, we’ve intentionally become an AI-first company - leveraging AI to transform what digital products are developed and how they are developed, as well as embedding AI into how Deazy operates across our teams, delivery practices and the products we help clients build. Today’s announcement isn’t about a new strategy, but about making visible the foundations that are already in place. Alongside AI-first products and features, we’re using an AI-first approach for rapid delivery to create effective MVPs quickly, supported by AI-enhanced engineering and governed practices that are proven in real production use. Looking ahead, AI will continue to underpin how we operate across people, partners, governance and ways of working, as we keep investing in quality, accountability and outcomes for our customers. Andy Peddar reacted on thisAndy Peddar reacted on thisApril was all about growth. We’re now just shy of 22,000 candidates - with 3,051 joining in April alone (+35% vs March). More partners and integrations. More conversations with potential operators coming on board. More roles going live. More placements happening. Is the flywheel starting to feel…like a flywheel? Maybe. On the product side, integrations are landing, features are rolling, and we’re getting closer to where we want to be. This month we're doubling down on MISO - with a clear goal of him* becoming an always-on, always-interviewing partner. Oh, and last night, we won Springboard "Recruitment Initiative of the Year" 🏆 - very grateful to the whole Candid Hospitality team (literally none of this would be possible without you) and everyone at Springboard, what a way to end the month. I’ve got no idea where this year is going - feels a bit like I'm getting whiplash - but I’m having a lot of fun.

Thanks to Marko Ivanovski for co-presenting, and Andrew Pryor for chairing the event. Can't wait for the next one!Andy Peddar liked thisHad a brilliant conversation last week with leaders from across the CIO WaterCooler community, joined by Andy Peddar, Deazy and Marko Ivanovski, Aveni, exploring one of the biggest challenges in AI right now: getting from POC to production. What became clear is that while AI experimentation is booming, operational readiness hasn’t kept pace. The model is rarely the blocker — it’s everything around it: evaluation, observability, governance, cost control, and ownership. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to the discussion. I wanted to quickly zoom out though to thank another amazing startup, NuVision Biotherapies Ltd, and the incredible Sarah and Ed at Earlam & Christopher Optometrists - for the breakthrough stem cell eyecare I've been lucky enough to trial with them - which has made trips like this possible for me. After the video we recorded two years, your latest instalment! Andy Peddar liked thisAndy Peddar liked thisSome months you feel like you're just turning up and doing the work. Then you look up and realise quite a lot has happened. We’ve just passed 17,000 candidates on Candid Hospitality. We’ve had our biggest month of placements ever - and there are still 20 days left to go. The new Candid app goes live next week, and the new platform and features have rolled out. Initial feedback is exactly where we wanted it to be: easier, quicker, better. There are also a few background conversations happening that we can’t talk about just yet… but they’re putting a proper spring in our step. And slightly out of the blue, I’ve been named in "Yorkshire’s Next Generation of Business Leaders - 42 under 42" (thanks Insider Media + Ian Leech), which is lovely, a great honour, and also means someone, somewhere, still thinks I’m young enough to count as “next generation”… Most days still feel like small steps. But every now and then you zoom out and realise something is actually happening. Grateful for the operators who trust us. Grateful for the candidates who take the leap. Grateful for a team who genuinely gives a shit. Right. Back to it I guess?

The social sector in Singapore is full of incredibly dedicated people doing work that genuinely matters. But dedication alone doesn't scale. Most organisations are one coordinator resignation away from losing everything they've built — the volunteer contacts, the attendance history, the institutional knowledge. All of it sitting in someone's personal WhatsApp or a spreadsheet only she knows how to read. We talk a lot about digital transformation in Singapore. There are policies, funding schemes, and initiatives pushing the sector forward. But walk into most VWOs today and the reality looks very different. The gap between where the sector is headed and where most organisations actually operate — that gap is wider than anyone publicly admits. I've seen it firsthand, speaking to SSA leaders across Singapore. The willingness to change is there. The funding support is available. What's missing is the belief that the transition is manageable. That's the problem Givlly is here to solve. Not just software. A bridge between where most VWOs are today and where they need to be. #NonprofitLeadership #SocialServiceSG #VolunteerManagement #TechForGood #Givlly

Don't just chase grants... Some fantastic advice from Rachel Fletcher in our recent interview. Watch the full video to find out the full detail, but the short version is that the grant provider will always be looking for an outcome and that might not align with the direction you want your business to go. That being said, if the outcomes do marry up with your vision then they are a fantastic way to inject some cash and grow your business. Yesterday I joined Phil Moseley to facilitate a discussion with some of England’s largest FE providers that work together with us and use benchmarking collaboratively. The discussions were powerful, and reinforced for me a fundamental reason for drawing comparisons. If we look at data through the same lens, it's not about imposing a one size fits all model, but it allows us to see where we are different and why, and whether this is right for mission, strategic direction and sustainability. Phil is at the Association of Colleges conference today.

The local governance of AIED services will be the subject of my talk at the forthcoming UKSG webinar on the 23rd of April. The talk is tailored to anyone working in a library setting in a further education college or university, and to colleagues who wish to learn more about the local governance of AIED services. https://lnkd.in/e8S7Jmem The following slide from my presentation highlights the PARTNER framework that I started to develop during my PhD journey. The framework is designed to support stakeholders in education settings to design, develop / procure, use and manage AIED services through a co-design and participatory approach. Local governance exists on a spectrum. At one end, institutions design and develop bespoke AIED services tailored to their specific needs and contexts; at the other, they procure off-the-shelf solutions. The position an institution takes along this spectrum inevitably shapes its capacity to effectively govern, manage and oversee its AI services. The PARTNER framework offers libraries and academic support teams in colleges and universities the opportunity to manage these services through a co-design and participatory approach.

I'm extremely proud of the Blackout Technologies team. The recognition below proves something important: there is a smarter way to ban smartphones in schools. Blackout's Impact Assessment Report has so many useful insights for teachers, parents and policy makers. The new UK law on smartphones is clear on outcomes, but not how to get there. Pouches and lockers are one approach - but they’re not the only one! Blackout delivers measurable results without queues, disruption, or eco waste. Blackout is turning smartphones into bricks during the school day - digitally, seamlessly, and at scale. This is about solving a digital problem with a digital solution. Myself and the team are grateful to the school leaders who want to make this change with us. The future of classroom focus doesn’t need friction - it needs smarter systems ! 🧑🤝🧑 What if communities could use shared information as data currency to unlock truly preventative local services, instead of today’s reactive ones? I had a brilliant conversation this week with a local authority leader who wants to empower residents to share more information with each other and with the council. Not for monitoring, but for insight, trust, and earlier support. For years, tech in local government has solved isolated problems. The result: siloed systems, transactional journeys, and services that can only respond once things go wrong. It’s time to shift the question from: ❌ How do we digitise this process? to ✔️ How do we help communities connect, collaborate, and share insight that prevents crises? When local communities can share information more easily 🗣️ When neighbours, voluntary groups, and professionals see a clearer picture 👀 When councils can spot patterns earlier 🔍 Information becomes data currency that powers prevention in: 👵 Social care 🏠 Homelessness 🛡️ Community safety Imagine identifying risk before crisis ⚠️ Coordinating support earlier 🤝 Building stronger, more resilient communities 🌱 This is the future of local public services. Technology not as a form or a portal, but as an enabler of connected communities and preventative support. Jay Dudley David Pugsley Amanda Cwietkow Scott Lauder Jason Daniel Iraia Oianguren

Are we thinking about productivity all wrong? The UK is falling behind its G7 peers when it comes to productivity. But how do SMEs really feel about it? Today we’re launching our new report, Work that Works, a deep dive into what productivity really looks like for UK SMEs in 2025. We spoke to over 2,000 business leaders and employees across the country. What we found surprised me. Job satisfaction is the #1 driver of productivity — but it’s often missing from leadership priorities Feeling recognised reduces retention issues by 40% — yet it’s among the least valued by employers 1 in 3 SMEs are in “survival mode” - so how can they grow? Our new report highlights that productivity isn’t just about hours or outputs. It’s about how we work. How we feel, and the value we create every day. If we want to solve the productivity puzzle, I really believe we need to stop measuring work the old way and start building workplaces that actually work. Labour costs have overtaken economic uncertainty as the primary operational concern for UK SMEs. ONS published that finding on 19 February. 36% of firms with 10 to 75 employees now cite it as their biggest challenge. Economic uncertainty sits at 30%. The distinction matters more than the numbers suggest. When uncertainty leads, firms wait. When labour costs lead, the pressure is structural. It does not ease with a rate cut or a better quarter. It compounds. Same payroll. Same NI liability. Higher cost floor, no corresponding lift in output, unless the operation changes. For a 40-person firm with a four-person sales team, that pressure lands in one place: the gap between what each rep costs and what each rep produces. If 70% of their time goes on non-selling activity, the effective cost per selling hour is not their salary divided by 40. It is their salary divided by 12. Looking across a batch of firms this week, the ones already adjusting are not cutting headcount. They are changing what each head does per hour. When you consider what the person costs, what the business can absorb, and what the market will reward, the case for staying effort-led becomes difficult to defend. The ONS data is not a headline. It is a diagnostic. Is your operation priced on 40 hours or 12?

📣 We're proud to support the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Get Tech Certified this Autumn campaign - a bold initiative to build digital capability across the UK public sector. From October to December 2025, Microsoft is offering free, high-quality training and certification to UK public sector employees nationwide. This includes flexible learning paths, live instructor-led sessions, and the opportunity to earn globally recognised credentials - with free exam vouchers available to those who complete a practice assessment with 80% or higher. But it doesn’t stop at certification. We’re also delivering webinars and 1-day workshops to help users unlock the full potential of Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat, empowering teams to analyse, draft and design content more effectively using generative AI. This programme supports the UK Government’s vision for a Modern Digital Government, and its goal of having 1 in 10 civil servants working in tech and digital roles within five years. https://lnkd.in/eaE4TW-B 💡 Let’s build a stronger, more digitally capable public sector — together. #GetTechCertified #DigitalSkills #Microsoft365Copilot #PublicSector #DigitalTransformation #TechForGood #MicrosoftUK Martin Turner Simon Lambert Marie Hamilton Andrew Allen Amanda Sleight
