Yesterday was a good day for anyone who thinks technology can do more for skills and workforce development in this country. Ufi VocTech Trust launched VocTech Together, a £2.85 million programme designed to move vocational technology from pockets of effective use to genuine, widespread adoption across the UK skills system. If you work in this space, it is worth paying attention to. Aggie Collet and I were there as part of our ongoing work from Capacity with Catch22, building a blueprint for how early-stage ventures and public sector teams can close the gap between them. The evening gave us the chance to test our thinking with people who have lived both sides of that experience: ventures who have tried to sell to government, commissioners who have tried to buy differently. The conversations validated a lot of what we have found. They also pushed us in new directions. Thank you to Rebecca Garrod-Waters Anthony Painter Thomas Heiser Caroline O'Donnell for hosting and for building something that takes this challenge seriously. We are looking forward to what comes next. The blueprint is in progress. More soon.

An excellent day at CodeNode London for the Ufi VocTech Trust showcase yesterday. It was the first outing of our AI integrated immersive training platform designed to help events professionals make better decisions. We had a ball of a time, not least having to drag a 'suspicious package' across London. But once there we had an incredible amount of interest and support from attendees. Reflection of the day was spurred by Seth Jackson pointing out that MUTI Live now sits at the intersection of creative, training, and ed-tech. Food for thought. Great to reconnect with my doppelganger (brother from another mother?) Jonah Werth and see how quickly his company Blend is developing. Regret of the day? Not scoffing more of the wandering canapés.

Tune into an engaging discussion around VocTech, skills, and the future of work with our Ufi VocTech Trust trustees Recorded during Week of VocTech, our trustees explore a wide range of topics, getting into the nitty gritty details of what's impacting learning and skills development → Alex Cullen raised the point that we're no longer making the case for AI as a way to accelerate skills and learning. We're now on the next step of that journey which is about driving adoption and reaching people furthest from opportunity → Josephine Jo Roy highlighted that the way we work is changing, in part due to technological changes, so we need to adapt and ensure people are gaining the skills needed to enter the workplace and grow through their career journey. She shares how we've seen sectors get left behind if they don't keep pace with technological advancements → Hayley Barnard reminded us of the real point of AI: "the point isn't what it can do, it's what we want it to do for us".
