I have a very visceral reaction when someone tells me they want to start a podcast.
Not because I don't want more podcasts in the world.
I do.
I love them.
It's more a sense of discomfort. Like watching someone order the spiciest thing on the menu with absolutely zero idea what's coming.
Confident going in.
Full existential crisis in the middle. I'm talking sweating, crying, panic.
Disproportionately proud at the end.
Podcasting is exactly like that.
I say this with love.
It's hard.
It's hard to:
- Get the audio quality right without spending a fortune
- Record from home without it looking like it
- Stay consistent when it feels like nobody's listening
- Actually grow it (because podcasts do not grow themselves)
- Make it work for your business, not just exist in the ether
Most podcasts die before episode 20. Usually becasue there's no real plan going in.
So, in the spirit of getting more awesome podcasts out into the world, Al Elliott and I are partnering with the Psychology Business Incubator to run a free session for business owners, clinicians and expert practitioners who are curious about podcasting.
We'll talk what it actually takes, what kit you need and how to make it work as a proper business tool.
No promises.
No nonsense.
Just the honest version from two people who've built two podcasts to 4.2m downloads.
26th March. 7pm UK time.
See you there?
