We have today announced that our CEO Karen Meechan will be stepping down on 29th May, after 22 years with the company. Having moved into the role of CEO in 2021, Karen has been a passionate advocate for Scotland's tech sector, the driving force behind ScotlandIS' work to support the industry, and an influential voice on behalf of our members to Scottish and UK governments. Commenting on her departure, Karen said: "ScotlandIS has been my entire career and, without doubt, some of the best years of my life. From the people I’ve had the privilege to work with to our incredible members showcasing Scottish tech to the world, I’ll always look back on my time here with pride." Chair of the ScotlandIS board, Andrew Williams, added: "I know I speak for the entirety of ScotlandIS when I say we are very sad to see Karen stepping down...We wish her every success in her next role and know she will be extraordinary. "But with change comes opportunity...we have an exciting future ahead, and I fully believe that we will find a leader who can build on the strength of ScotlandIS’ current momentum." Karen will continue to support the board in an advisory capacity to help ease the transition, with our COO Nicola Taylor serving as Acting CEO until a new leader is appointed. ScotlandIS reposted this
After 22 incredible years, the time has come for me to step down as #CEO of ScotlandIS on 29 May 2026 and move on to a new opportunity. It’s hard to put into words just how much this organisation has meant to me. ScotlandIS has been my entire career. I’ve grown up here, learned so much, and had the privilege of working with some of the most passionate, committed people I could have hoped to meet. From our team and board to our incredible members, it’s the people who have made this journey so special. I feel incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, especially in recent years. I’m really pleased that Nicola Taylor will step in as Acting CEO, bringing continuity and strong leadership as we begin the search for the next #CEO. This isn’t an easy decision, but it feels like the right moment for a challenge. I'll leave with a huge sense of gratitude, and real confidence that ScotlandIS will continue to go from strength to strength. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey, your support and friendship have meant the world to me. Thank you https://lnkd.in/eiUfjjMT
