And just before the bank holiday weekend.... confirmation of who's stepping up to be a part of the new independent entity for #openbanking Variable Recurring Payments, or #vrp. Ordo, part of the Neonomics group, is enthusiastic to be on the list. We've been live with Variable Recurring Payments, or Pay by Bank, for payments between accounts in the same name (sweeping 🧹) for years. And now the new entity will see this artificial restriction on expanding VRP, wave by wave, drain away, enabling businesses and consumers to pay and be paid for those repeated bills via secure, flexible and controllable instant VRP. 💴 We already have clients and their customers reaping the benefits of flexibility and control: The wonderful CDFI (Community Development Finance Institution), Moneyline, in their VRP pilot with us proved that VRP is popular with paying consumers: 🧠 75% of Moneyline customers using VRP said it reduces stress and worry. 🚶♀️ 92% of customers in Moneyline’s trial moved to VRP when offered the chance. 📈 VRP led to a 26% reduction in arrears compared with customers on direct debit payments. The sooner we can crack on with developing VRP and surfing beyond Wave 1, the better, and more value will be driven to the UK's businesses and consumers creating growth for us all. A good progress post to see us off into the weekend. Thanks to all at Open Banking for their work in corralling the industry 🐈⬛
31 firms - including fintechs, high street and challenger banks, and payment providers – have agreed to fund and take forward the initial phase of commercial variable recurring payments (CVRPs). This will support the creation of a new entity that will be owned and run by industry, and is the next step in implementing a key element of the Government's National Payments Vision.
