Not one school. Not one programme. But a nationwide effort to transform computing education ✨ . Through a partnership between Nominet, BBC Children’s and Education and the Micro:bit Educational Foundation, we set out to reach and inspire primary schools across the UK. At the heart of it is the BBC micro:bit - giving children a tangible, practical way to build the skills they need to thrive in a digital world. And the impact speaks for itself: 📊 87% of teachers said it increased their confidence in teaching computing 📊 95% of students want to keep using it in lessons 📊 79% of teachers saw improvements in skills like problem-solving and communication 📊 88% of students say computing is more enjoyable when using micro:bit 📊 81% of girls said they’d like a job linked to coding (vs 37% without it) With support from Nominet, classroom packs were made available to every primary school across the UK - alongside a nationwide programme of activities, CBBC collaborations, and a strong network of training and support for teachers. 🎥 Watch the story below 📖 Read more about the impact: https://lnkd.in/e9TSGPEw #microbit #ComputingEducation #EdTech #DigitalSkills #STEMeducation #PrimaryEducation

About us
We are enabling children around the world to get creative with technology and invent in school, in clubs and at home! The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer given to every Year 7 child across the UK - and now being used around the world. It’s 70 times smaller and 18 times faster than the original BBC Micro computers used in schools in the early 1980s. Started by the BBC and a great team of partners, the Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a non-profit organisation.

🆕 New features! ✨ Most students can collect data. But understanding it? That’s harder. It’s something we hear often - students gather data, but struggle to interpret what it actually shows. 📊 With the micro:bit, students can collect real-world data using built-in sensors - from temperature to movement - and now explore it in more ways. Until recently, data could be viewed in tables or line graphs. Now, students can also use: ✅ Bar charts ✅ Pie charts Making it easier for all learners - especially younger students - to spot patterns, compare results, and understand what they’re seeing. AI is everywhere - but how do students actually understand how it works? 🤔 As conversations around AI grow globally - and with initiatives like National AI Literacy Day highlighting its importance - helping young people understand how it actually works has never been more important. ✨ micro:bit CreateAI makes AI tangible - so students can build, test and improve their own models using real-world data. And to support that, we’ve created a full set of classroom-ready resources, including: • a step-by-step user guide • taster lesson units • Make it: code it projects to bring models to life • teaching tools and a CreateAI glossary The micro:bit CreateAI US pilot project, supported by Google.org, is helping shape how AI can be explored in classrooms.
