  • A big one to close the week. We are excited to share that Chandra Donelson will be joining us as the Keynote Speaker at the CXO Data Summit Europe, taking place March 23–25 in Portugal. Chandra is a globally recognised data and AI leader, bestselling author of The Data Detective, board member, and Chief Data & AI Officer. She has spent her career helping organisations turn data into real strategic advantage. At the Summit, she’ll be joining some of the most senior data, AI, and digital leaders in Europe for two and a half days of candid conversations, shared challenges, and practical insight under the Chatham House Rule. We’re looking forward to welcoming back the CXO community to Portugal again this March.

  • The Future Enterprise: Intelligent. Resilient. Converged. These are the themes shaping the conversations at the CXO Data Summit Europe. - Intelligent: AI and data embedded at the core to anticipate, decide and act at speed. - Resilient: Architected to adapt and thrive through disruption and uncertainty. - Converged: Where technology, data, security and business strategy operate as one. We’re pleased to have Johanna Hutchinson, Group Chief Data Officer at BAE Systems, continuing as Chair of the Advisory Committee as we shape the next summit. A small number of places remain for senior data and AI leaders who would like to join us in Portugal this March 23rd - 25th.

Are We in a #Relationship with #AI? I was recently involved into discussion at Forrester and CXO Group Ltd about "AI’s Evolving Landscape — Embracing the Journey, Not the Destination.". As someone with systemic coaching education, the entire converstation sounded exactly like a relationship coaching session. A complete  déjà vu! The parallels are too strong to ignore: If your first instinct is to check ChatGPT before coffee, you’re cognitively entangled. We have mergeed identities, we stop seeing AI as a tool and start using phrases like, "We need better data." We cycle between magic (results!) and disappointment (hallucinations!), a classic approach-avoidance cycle. We are essentially #K from #BladeRunner2049, projecting our needs and hopes onto #Joi (the perfect companion, manufactured by the Wallace Corporation). AI is rapidly becoming less of a tool and more of a mirror reflecting our own psychology, our desire to delegate, and our need to connect. The questions is for everyone: Are you sing AI, or are you emotionally involved with it? Read more in my substack-see comments for the link. “The Evolving AI Landscape: Embracing the Journey, Not Just the Destination.” that was the title of Forrester's executive dinner I attended last night. And it definitely was time well spent! Dr. Bernhard Schaffrik gave a short but very inspiring outlook into the next couple of years of #AI and specifically #agents development - and it was indeed refreshing, as he pointed out the clear gap between realistic scenarios vs. the marketing (over)promises by vendors on one side as well as the dystopias various doom&gloomers on the other. Bottom line: proper #AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is quite a bit further away as both sides want to make everyone believe. But it's coming - and it's worth looking forward to (probably) 😜 After that we had a very engaged and insightful conversation at our table, discussing what tech leaders can do to support AI deployment and adoption as well as future-proofing their organizations in such a rapidly evolving environment. I very much appreciate the insights, opinions and predictions shared around our table by Sandra Deuschle, Giuseppe C., Tom Cakl and Dr. John Flemmer. My takeaway: We need to have many more and much more open conversations about realistic AI applications and use-cases among tech leaders. Only when we overcome the self-adulation (ok, I had to look that one up) when talking about AI application and also share what we tried that did NOT work, we can reduce some of the completely unrealistic C-level expectations around efficiency increases - and by that reduce the pressure felt by many teams across almost all organizations when it comes to AI deployment. Thanks to CXO Group Ltd for organizing and facilitating the evening!

✨Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of hosting a roundtable dinner at the Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, an exceptional setting in the heart of Amsterdam. Senior data and technology leaders from major international organizations joined us, contributing to a highly engaging and inspiring discussion.🌟 A special thanks to all participants for the energy, insights, and thoughtful perspectives shared throughout the evening. And thanks to Paolo Platter for opening the session with reflections on how #DataProduct Management enables #AI-ready data. Looking forward to continuing the conversation! 🚀 Edwin Bonte Øyvind Dave Kees Gelderblom CXO Group Ltd

  • This short film captures the energy and spirit of the CXO Data Summit in Crete - where senior data and AI leaders from across industries gathered to share hard truths, challenge hype, and build real momentum together. Watch here: https://lnkd.in/eSNYYquq What makes this community special isn’t just the content or the location (though Crete was stunning!) - it’s the collective intelligence in the room. - People openly sharing what really works and what doesn’t. - Peers connecting beyond job titles to tackle shared challenges. - Leaders walking away not just inspired, but equipped with ideas they can implement. This isn’t a traditional conference. It’s a trusted circle of change-makers who understand that the future of data and AI isn’t built in isolation - it’s built together. We are already excited for what’s ahead. Our next CXO Data Summit will take place in March 23rd - 25th another opportunity to grow, collaborate and shape the future of data-driven leadership. If you’re ready to be part of the conversation - not just a spectator - this is your space.

There are undoubted gains from AI in our businesses, as an industry we are still in the foothills of learning how to harness the power of these new technologies, how to assure the models and how to deliver them cost-effectively across our complex landscapes. Even more complex is the leadership challenge of taking the business with us to safely adapt current working practices, adopt new technology and embrace the changes that will inevitably come with this. It is my pleasure to Chair the CXO Group Ltd Data Summit over the next few days where we will take 80 of our most influential Chief Data Officers from UK and Europe through the challenges above in an environment designed to maximise learning, building collaboration amongst the best of our profession and drive our businesses forward. #chiefdataofficer #data #AI

  • Why should you attend the next CXO Data Summit taking place in Crete this September 8th - 10th? - “It saves us time, it saves us budget, and it de-risks a lot of our transformation programmes.” Adam Nagus, WATG - "Every session has something different. Every session allows a different way of thinking, a different way of engagement and gets the best out of people" Johanna Hutchinson, BAE plc - "Fantastic to be in touch with such a community of bright, engaged, professionals at the top of their game, willing to share, willing be to be part of honest, open, supportive conversations. Really energised to be a part of this” Lord Holmes - “Having brilliant conversations, brought together into a massively growing community and it’s just the strength of the community that brings the right people to the room” Greg Freeman, Data Literacy Academy. ⬆️⬆️⬆️ That’s why. • “Choose wisely.” That was the challenge Johanna Hutchinson put to the room during her thought provoking session on Authentic Leadership and Team Dynamics at the CXO Data Summit. Using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Model, Johanna guided our senior leaders through the five distinct positions we take when navigating tension and collaboration: Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, and Accommodating. It was a powerful framework that helped us reflect not only on how we lead, but how we show up for our teams. Johanna’s calm, grounded energy brought depth to the discussion—reminding us that how we lead matters just as much as what we lead. Leadership is not about defaulting to power plays or passivity, but about cultivating awareness, choosing wisely, and building environments of trust. A huge thank you, Johanna, for bringing such clarity and compassion to the CXO stage.
