It's official. Coptrz is appointed the exclusive UK distributor for Tundra Drone®. The Norwegian deep-tech company behind the world's first standardised modular payload platform for professional drones, now available to British defence, blue light and inspection teams. Here's why it matters. Tundra's Base interface clips onto the Parrot ANAFI UKR and accepts an entire ecosystem of mission modules: Drop for tactical resupply, IR Light for covert NVG operations, Floodlight and Speaker for area search, Laser and Range Finder for target hand-off, plus Strobe, Battery, Microphone and Parachute. Up to four payloads on a single airframe, ruggedised from -40°C to +85°C, reconfigurable in the field without a screwdriver in sight. The bigger picture? UK and NATO procurement is moving hard away from Chinese hardware, and operators are being asked to do more with the fleets they already have. Tundra answers both, on a Norwegian-led, non-Chinese supply chain that aligns with sovereign procurement requirements. For MOD units, police, fire and rescue, SAR teams and infrastructure inspectors, that means fewer airframes to certify, less kit to carry, and one drone that can flex across multiple mission profiles in a single shift. Proud to be the route to deploy it across Britain. Full announcement below 👇

The UK Government has published its latest Regulation Performance Dashboard, including new Civil Aviation Authority “Future of Flight” metrics covering drone and RPAS activity. At COPTRZ, we welcome the inclusion of drone-specific data. It is a positive step towards recognising the growing importance of UAS activity within the UK’s aviation, infrastructure and innovation landscape. The figures show growth across key areas, including Operator IDs, Flyer IDs, UK SORA applications and UK SORA approvals. This points to a sector that is becoming larger, more complex and more commercially significant. However, the data also raises important questions. Several metrics need clearer definitions before industry can interpret them with confidence. For example, it is not always clear whether figures are quarterly, cumulative, valid at quarter-end, or whether they include new applications, renewals, modifications or carried-over cases. Transparency is welcome, but for the drone sector to make informed decisions, regulatory reporting must also be precise, comparable and properly contextualised. We have published a full article looking at what the dashboard shows, what it means for industry, and where future releases could be improved. Amazon’s first UK drone deliveries are not just a retail milestone. They are a signal that drones are moving into mainstream operational life. The real story is not faster parcel delivery. The real story is public trust, autonomous operations, airspace integration, safety cases, regulation and scalable drone capability. For UK organisations, the lesson is clear: Drones are no longer just innovation projects. They are becoming infrastructure. The businesses that win will not simply be the ones that buy drones. They will be the ones that build safe, compliant and commercially valuable drone programmes.

The UK drone industry is entering a new phase. The Government’s latest funding announcement is not just about accelerating drone innovation. It is about building trust into the future of UK airspace. The next stage of drone adoption will not be won by organisations that simply own drones. It will be won by organisations that can prove they operate safely, compliantly and accountably. That means: • trained and competent pilots • robust risk assessments • proper operational authorisations • clear flight logs and evidence packs • strong maintenance discipline • secure data handling • accountable governance • scalable operating procedures The proposed drone identification system is also a major signal. Professional operators should not see this as a threat. They should see it as an opportunity to separate credible, compliant drone programmes from irresponsible or illegal use. The UK market is moving beyond “can drones do this?” The better question is now: Can your organisation operate drones in a way that regulators, customers, insurers, procurement teams and the public can trust? That is where serious drone capability begins.

Today’s drone operation over the North Yorkshire Moors highlighted the power of combining new technology with landscape conservation and recovery. Working in partnership with the Moors team, we have deployed LiDAR to survey areas affected by last year’s moors fires near Cawthorn Roman Camps, North Yorkshire. It’s a strong reminder that even in the wake of environmental challenges and simply, the passage of time, there are opportunities for discovery. LiDAR continues to prove its value in uncovering features that would otherwise remain invisible, helping us better understand both our past as well as how landscapes and ancient ruins are evolving and or degrading over time. Proud to be part of a project where innovation meets heritage.

Photogrammetry for Volume Calculations... Does It Stack Up? I've been comparing photogrammetry against traditional survey methods for aggregate stockpile volumes. The results? They align. But there's important context worth understanding. Volume calculations are never purely objective. Regardless of method, three things have a big influence on your final number: Where you define the stockpile boundary How you establish the base surface The condition of the ground underneath These are interpreted, not automatically determined. If you've drawn the boundary slightly differently to your subcontractor, your volumes will differ. Neither is necessarily wrong, and without a known original ground surface beneath the pile, a truly absolute volume is difficult for any method to achieve. So where does photogrammetry win? Consistency. When the same person is measuring regularly, the approach becomes repeatable, and that's where you start generating reliable comparative data you can actually trust over time. It's not about one perfect number. It's about a scalable process you can rely on. Anyone else trialling photogrammetry for stockpile management? How are you handling the base surface question? #Photogrammetry #Surveying #AggregatesIndustry #DroneData #Stockpiles #Construction James Pick Coptrz

Using Flyability Cloud to share inspection data with your customers? Simple. High-quality 4K visuals and colourised point clouds make data instantly accessible to anyone through a web browser, saving valuable time on reporting and collaboration. This flight took place through long, hard-to-reach tunnels beneath a power station, definitely not an environment suited for manned access. Flyability solutions are available in the UK exclusively through Coptrz. Get in touch to learn more.

Investing in a drone is no longer the differentiator. The real value comes from what happens after the purchase. This is where the end-to-end journey becomes critical. At Coptrz, the focus is on supporting organisations through that full process, from selecting the most suitable hardware, through to operational training, workflow integration, licensing, and ongoing support as teams embed UAVs into day-to-day delivery. #Coptrz #Survey #Construction #LiDAR #Photogrammetry #Drones #Aerial
