An inspirational story of resilience and courage. Congratulations to Sonita Alizadeh – the 2025 Cannes LionHeart recipient. Afghan rapper, human rights activist and author Sonita has used her platform to be a global voice for women’s rights. She co-founded Azero and The Dreams Book, a secret school for Afghan girls deprived of education under Taliban rule – and has been amplifying her fight against child marriage through music. The Cannes LionHeart Award recognises the significant contributions that people make to the world, which Sonita uses her voice to do everyday. Black market signs to burglar-free buildings. ADT is a leader in security in Mexico. Its popularity means that logos are often sold on the black market – affecting business, but providing a growth opportunity. To tackle this, it offered informal buyers the chance to hire the formal installation of an original ADT sign at half the price of the black market. Visits were scheduled where ADT wasn’t being considered, and 93% of clients upgraded to more products. The campaign was distributed on social media channels, Display and OOH – and people were talking about it. It resulted in a 640% increase in home visits and more than 70% of Mexico City now have safer, secure homes and businesses as a result. At 21, Laura turned a setback into a launchpad, temping as a receptionist at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity before becoming the Head of Advancing Equitable Access. Today, she leads the See It Be It program, empowering women and nonbinary people to elevate their careers in advertising.
