I would venture to say that 99% of illegal or at least unethical use of your data by AI companies is not done through their AI products.
Why work with tiny snippets submitted to AI tools when your whole mailbox and digital life is already stored in their clouds?
Why pore over the Azure OpenAI TOS when your files are on OneDrive?
@simon Your pelicans made it into a conference talk demo. https://youtu.be/kQSfXSliBzU?si=m3ZxPa7ov9SzVjBQ&t=457
“Microsoft is rebranding Azure AI Services (formerly Cognitive Services) under the Foundry brand”
Silly me, thinking that rebranding involves 2 brands.

Scala’s equivalent is .get() 🤦

We’re off to a great start at the first AI related talk at #DeclarativeAmsterdam
Share your erotic fantasies with Sam Altman.
I know from existing on the internet that a “credit score” is a thing in the USA. But it’s not a universal phenomenon.
Here’s an example of a company admitting that what they did in the Dutch market was illegal, they’ll pay a fine, they’ve stopped operations in the Netherlands and they’ll destroy the database with personal data.
That’s what the GDPR gives us. https://mastodon.nl/@nrc_nl/115388567354059381
“Meanwhile, wise people (and Sam Altman) are starting to talk about AI possibly being a bubble that is about to burst” https://eupolicy.social/@bert_hubert/115382754425005060
Reading about plans for digital ID cards in Britain and “reporting potholes" as a justification. 🙄
The whole world knows you have potholes. I’m sure they already get reported. Are you planning to charge the reporter to fix them or something?
I did a mental 180° turn while reading this. https://mastodon.social/@schmudde/115225845619732549

Neither ASML nor Mistral claimed that they would be able to produce better chips through the use of AI. So we’re at the stage that the hype is self-sustaining. https://mastodon.nl/@nrc_nl/115169034816129559
TIL. Today I Learned, by trying it out, that in Firefox, when I want to split off some tabs to their own window, that I don’t need the right-click menu for that. Just select multiple tabs and drag them out just like I already do with single tabs.
Seriously, what do people use when you need to transform marked-up text from one format to another if not XSLT?
Please RT.
So about this “end chat” feature from Anthropic https://www.anthropic.com/research/end-subset-conversations
Suppose we implement that ourselves as an MCP. Now the tool call can:
- start an infinite loop
- signal to the chat application to actually stop the chat
- return normally
Which tool description should we give this tool? Would it be accurate?
Also, would an LLM use a “take a chill pill” tool if presented with one?
I guess there’s only one way to find out.
Good news from LinkedIn.
I’m getting a verification badge because the email address I had with my former employer (until 2018) was added in a way that pleases them.
It’s 2025 and I need to manually enable media.forcestereo.enabled in Firefox so that mono audio doesn’t just play in the left speaker only.
