New filter?
[change source]It would be useful if a filter was created to prevent new users (not autoconfirmed) from removing qd or rfd tags from articles. PieWriter (talk) 12:36, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Doe someone want to take a look? PieWriter (talk) 03:34, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
- We currently have Special:AbuseFilter/85 to tag QD removals. Looking at the filter log, it might be worth changing it to disallow such actions. Expanding to RFD templates would be good imo. -Barras talk 09:01, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Barras That’s seems like a great idea! PieWriter (talk) 04:23, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- I changed #85 to disallow the removal and created Special:AbuseFilter/159. It currently only tags the edits, if it works as expected, I will also change it to disallow. -Barras talk 14:07, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Barras I tested it with my alt and it seems to work: . PieWriter (talk) 00:53, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Technical move request: Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich → LMU Munich
[change source]On the English Wikipedia, the article Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich moved to LMU Munich. Since LMU Munich has more than one edit in its history, I cannot do the move automatically. Proof finder (talk) 17:54, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
What happened to the block reasons dropdown?
[change source]For those who can figure things out on a more technical basis than me: The list of block reasons in the dropdown for indefinite blocks has shrunk significantly. The list is displayed at MediaWiki:Ipbreason-indef-dropdown. It is only impacting indefinite blocks; the dropdown for set durations remains the same. Can anyone figure out why the change occurred and how to switch it back? CountryANDWestern (talk) 13:53, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
- CountryANDWestern, it looks like indefinite block reasons have been separated from block reasons, which were always at MediaWiki:Ipbreason-dropdown. As an easy solution, I just copied that and pasted into the new page, MediaWiki:Ipbreason-indef-dropdown. Long-term, this can allow us to have separate templated definite/indefinite block reasons if we choose to, meaning we don't have to pick from as many options for each one - though I am not sure how useful this would be to us. It has been explained to enwiki admins at w:en:Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Minor changes on the interface of Special:Block. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 14:29, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Requesting create protection of Tsubaki
[change source]LTA keeps recreating this attack page. Probably a good idea to protect 椿 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) as well. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 14:02, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
Not done I don't think this has got to a level where we cannot handle, but mainly, I don't think that protecting articles would help in this situation, as it would simply push them onto another page. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 20:29, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
Page protection request
[change source]There has been some disruption on the page Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, just like Teen Titans Go!, which is protected indefinitely. I am requesting that Teen Titans Go! To the Movies gets protected for some time just for good measure, as this disruption has been caused likely by the same user. Thank you. NX3710 (talk) 12:51, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Request for semi-protection for Object (computer science) after 3RR
[change source]Hello,
A TA is copying enWP without citing sources, and on top of that, they're using bold text throughout the page. His messages here and here are downright insulting. I suggest you revert to the original version of the article. This will give this TA time to read the help pages to learn how to participate in a community project.
Sincerely. —Eihel (talk) 16:40, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
Not done, usually we do not add page protection unless there is severe vandalism that cannot be handled (per WP:SEMI). The TA has been warned on their talk page and we can take further action on the account if they continue. Ternera (talk) 14:07, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Hadith rejectors
[change source]At Hadith rejectors, the page is being edited, what appears to be exclusively, by socks of User:OkayEiko as found by sockpuppetry investigations at en:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/OkayEiko/Archive. OkayEiko is not blocked on Simple. However, they're abandoning each account and moving onto another each time that account is blocked at English. So, technically, there is no block being evaded on Simple.
The English Wikipedia has this article redirect to Quranism and it is protected due to the persistent sockpuppetry. An RFD here on Simple in 2024 was no consensus, though a good amount of suggestion of redirection.
How do we approach this article and these accounts? There is no Simple block being evaded as far as I can see, but it is an undisclosed use of multiple accounts. CountryANDWestern (talk) 14:59, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- not sure about the page but I'd imagine for the users that cases like this constitute the abuse of multiple accounts, and can be acted upon accordingly.- FusionSub (Talk page) (Contributions) 15:04, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- There is nothing inherently wrong with using multiple accounts. If the accounts aren't being used for abuse and there's no block being evaded, there's no wrongdoing on simple. It's pretty fair to say that WP:ONESTRIKE applies to the whole bunch though. Garsh (talk) 03:00, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
"Goodwikiwriter1973"
[change source]Hello all,
I have reason to believe that Goodwikiwriter1973 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) possesses a conflict of interest in the articles they have written and contributed to in a manner that puts the vast majority of contributions they have made to Wikipedia into deep question to me. This user has almost exclusively created edits related to brothers Mark and Gary Leschinsky, two college/high school aged students who, while accomplished, are not exceptionally notable. After many of their edits on English Wikipedia were reverted/deleted, they seem to have moved to Simple English Wikipedia in the hopes of receiving less attention there. This is an issue not only because they appear to be evading issues others have previously brought up with their contributions, but also because, crucially, they are not writing in Simple English.
This pattern has included, but is not limited to, creating articles for Mark and his film festival that have since been deleted, creating an article for Gary that remains up on Simple English Wikipedia, adding edits related to the brothers on other Wikipedia articles, and simple:High Tor Vineyards creating an article on Simple English Wikipedia] for a business that lists Mark as an intern in a public Instagram post.
Appreciate any attention to this situation.
(Copypasted from erroneously making this post at first on English Wikipedia's noticeboard.) ~2026-18956-93 (talk) 22:03, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator observation) The concerns seem fair. The Gary Leschinsky article isn’t really in Simple English, uses pretty complex terms. Lots of personal achievements are very detailed. Some of which aren’t fully backed by the sources, so it tips toward WP:COI. Could be taken to RFD. Erakilos 𐤀 22:35, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Unconstructive editing
[change source]A new user Dy2834 has been involved in adding frictional characters images links to sensitive caste/ethnic group based pages such like this and this. The user also deliberately added wrong link on an article named Thakur. User is only engaged on ‘Ahir’ or ‘Yadav’ caste based pages, seems like a caste-based pov pusher. The pages have been reverted to their last fair version by me. Thanks MrBeardalien (talk) 16:31, 28 March 2026 (UTC)

Careless user
[change source]He @Ravensfire is changing the page Gurjara Pratihara Dynasty even when there are all the proofs for the claimed information. Somebody kindly teach him that wikipedia is free for everybody to add unbiased referenced information. He is changing all reference based data on that page maybe because he is biased. Please any good admin look after this serious matter. ~2026-19768-09 (talk) 10:57, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
- This is the usual Rajput caste POV push around this topic. I would encourage others to look at the versions on en wiki for some idea of the POV pushing from this temp account. Ravensfire (talk) 13:11, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Airline hotline spambot
[change source](Moved from Simple Talk)
Pinging @Fehufanga, @ShadowBallX and @Ferien: Does anybody have an idea of how to deal with, or more information on, the latest series of spambots that has been successfully creating new pages at a high rate? How long has this been going on and are other wikis affected? They create paragraph-long pages with a title along the lines of "How to contact a representative of [airline name]?" or "What is the toll-free number for [airline name]" and then text explaining how to do so with phone numbers, and work in multiple languages with at least German, French, Korean, Italian, Portuguese and Arabic seen so far; رقم هاتف خدمة عملاء ترانسافيا is the latest example of such a page. I was thinking that an edit filter could be used to disallow the creation of unsourced pages containing phone numbers by non-autoconfirmed users; could this be workable without excessive false positives? Passengerpigeon (talk) 23:28, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
- Passengerpigeon, I can see there is currently a global abuse filter, though it is not currently taking any action. At some point over the next day I am going to try and put some time into building one. Could we move this to the admins' noticeboard please? --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 23:35, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
- It's been interesting to use the IP information tool on some of the temporary accounts that create these pages. There is seemingly no link between them, different address ranges, ASNs, and locations. It's likely a person or group is using proxies, but it's a strange thing to put so much effort into given that most of us can't read the languages they're using.
- I'd be supportive of a filter blocking non-autoconfirmed from creating pages with phone numbers. There are very few constructive reasons why this would be needed anyways. Garsh (talk) 16:21, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- I ran a checkuser on some of the blocked users, they are all from about the same region. I do think that an editfilter might be the way forward. Eptalon (talk) 08:48, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
