AI agents work for you.   But can they also work against you?   With agents now capable of making decisions and taking actions on their own, we’re seeing new threats emerge that MSPs and MIPs need to be looking out for. → Shadow Agents A shadow agent is an autonomous workflow or system created by an employee (usually with good intentions) using personal accounts, low‑code automation platforms or unvetted APIs. With excessive permissions, no audit trail and no lifecycle management, they can pass by undetected, past your stack and all your controls. → AI-Orchestrated Cyberattacks We saw the first large‑scale cyber‑espionage campaign executed primarily by an AI system in late 2025, where the AI executed 80–90% of the intrusion activity autonomously. Your time between vulnerability discovery and exploitation got that much shorter. → Social Engineering Deepfakes jumped from 500,000 detected instances in 2023 to 8 million in 2025. That’s a 1,500% increase. It's easier than ever to manipulate employees into divulging confidential information to commit fraud. → Prompt Injection Because LLMs can’t always tell the difference between legitimate instructions and malicious inputs, threat actors are hijacking agentic workflows, manipulating memory and redirecting autonomous actions.
