This weekend (23–24 May) was special because people who thought AI was out of reach were building agents within hours. In just 8 hours, a diverse group - from tech professionals to those with zero coding background - moved from “just an idea” to “this actually works.” What stood out: – The curiosity that never slowed down – The “wait… I built this?” moments – The surprise that something so powerful could feel… simple. A huge thank you to our Master AI trainer, whose patience turned uncertainty into confidence, one build at a time. Earlier today, IBM, with support from the U.S. Department of Commerce, announced plans to create America's first pure-play quantum wafer foundry. The new company, Anderon, will be purpose-built to manufacture 300mm quantum wafer technology at the scale needed to power the global quantum industry. Quantum computing is the first new computing paradigm in more than 80 years, and it will let us solve problems in chemistry, materials, and optimization that are out of reach today. IBM has spent decades advancing the science and engineering of building quantum computers. We have deployed more than 90 quantum systems around the world, making this technology available to the broadest ecosystem of scientists, developers and creators. We have laid out a clear path to delivering the world's first large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029. Our hope is that Anderon will be a catalyst to our mission of bringing quantum to an expansive community building the future of computing. The Department of Commerce and IBM are each contributing $1 billion towards Anderon, in addition to the significant intellectual property, infrastructure, and people IBM is contributing to help launch it. Yesterday, we kicked off something very close to our hearts at Simei–Changi ...the launch of the AIQNEX Community Edition Series, starting with a 90‑minute session on Quantum Awareness. We brought Quantum Awareness out of labs and lecture theatres and into the community — kicking off the very first AIQNEX Community Edition session. Quantum physics sounds intimidating, but at its heart, it’s simply about how the world works at its smallest scale — and how those ideas are now shaping very real things like computing, security, healthcare, and decision‑making. You don’t need to be a scientist to learn it. You just need curiosity. And curiosity is exactly what showed up. Residents, working professionals, seniors — asking sharp questions, leaning in, connecting ideas to real life. This is why learning in Singapore’s heartlands matters. When people understand what’s coming, they’re empowered, not intimidated. Huge thanks to Bala Iyer for the opportunity to bring this to the Simei–Changi community, and to Lars-Henrik Skjolding, Phd for sharing his expertise in a way that felt grounded, practical, and refreshingly human. Yesterday, after attending the Speechmatics event, I found myself reflecting on how quickly our relationship with AI is changing. In my earlier post, I spoke about the 4th learning style...."directing." Not just learning or applying, but learning how to guide systems to achieve outcomes. This feels especially relevant now with the rise of agentic AI. AI is no longer just a tool we use. It can plan, act, and execute tasks. Which means the real skill is shifting... from using AI to directing it effectively... And that’s where the gap is... We talk a lot about AI literacy, but the real need today is learning how to: •break down problems •design workflows •and build and guide your own AI agents This is not just a technical skill... it’s becoming a core capability for the future of work...
