A message from our CEO Luis Gomes. AAC Clyde Space has successfully launched the first two satellites in its VIREON™ Earth Observation constellation on SpaceX’s Transporter-16 mission. VIREON™-1 and VIREON™-2 have been deployed into orbit, with initial signals received confirming both spacecraft are operating as expected. The satellites will now enter commissioning ahead of operational service. We thank the UK Space Agency & European Space Agency - ESA for their help and support through the xSPANCION programme in helping bring the VIREON™ constellation to life. AAC Clyde Space technology will support seven satellites launching on SpaceX’s Transporter-16 mission, including its own VIREON™-1 and VIREON™-2 Earth Observation satellites. Alongside these, multiple customer missions built on the company’s EPIC satellite platforms will also fly, supporting applications across Earth observation and communications. AAC Clyde Space technology will additionally feature onboard several other spacecraft through key subsystems, including CubeCAT laser communication terminals enabling high-speed data downlinks from orbit. The mission highlights AAC Clyde Space’s role across the space value chain, from full satellite platforms to advanced subsystems, and continues its track record of flying on every SpaceX Transporter mission to date. Yesterday, we joined OHB Sweden AB for the official signing ceremony of the EPS-Sterna contract, marking the start of an important programme and Sweden’s largest satellite order to date. Our CEO, Luis Gomes, signed together with Fredrik Sjöberg, alongside partners from across the European space community. We were honoured to welcome Lotta Edholm, reflecting the significance of the programme for Sweden’s space sector. It was also a pleasure to hear contributions from EUMETSAT, European Space Agency - ESA, Rymdstyrelsen, SMHI and colleagues across the programme. We are proud of this programme and grateful to our partners, OHB Sweden, ESA and EUMETSAT, for their trust as we move into this next phase. EPS-Sterna builds on the success of the Arctic Weather Satellite and represents an important step forward for European weather capability. AAC Clyde Space has signed a contract for €76.3 million with OHB Sweden AB to deliver 20 microwave radiometers for the EPS-Sterna programme, led by the European Space Agency - ESA on behalf of EUMETSAT. At the heart of each satellite is the microwave radiometer, measuring temperature and humidity throughout the atmosphere. This is the kind of data that improves forecasts, strengthens early warnings, and helps societies prepare for increasingly extreme weather. Developed and manufactured by AAC Omnisys in Gothenburg, the technology has already been proven in orbit on the Arctic Weather Satellite and is now moving into operational use at scale. Deliveries begin in 2028 and continue through 2035. We are proud to partner with OHB Sweden in this programme and to contribute to Europe’s next generation of weather capability. 👉 Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/eFUt-7_w #spaceisawesome #spacetech #weatherdata #climate
