A weekly plan can look clean until the squad splits into five different realities. Starters who played 90 minutes. Reserves who barely played. Players who did not travel. Someone coming back from injury. Medical staff who also need a day off. And the next match already pulling the whole week in a different direction. That is the real problem with microcycle planning in team sports. Not just the biology, but the coordination. This presentation builds the case for a bottom-up approach: starting from what you can actually organize, not only from what the textbook says you should do. The core of it is three mini-blocks: Recovery, Loading, and Taper. You do not plan the week as one clean line. You place the pieces, then build around them. “Micro dictates macro.” The small details, done consistently, start to shape the bigger picture. The full presentation covers functional groups, Kanban boards for staff alignment, microloading versus saturation, optimal timing of training components, and how to handle microcycles of different lengths across the season. If you work in team sport and your weekly plan regularly meets reality head-on, this is worth your time. Most team warm-ups look organized from the outside. Same sequence. Same timing. Same exercises for everyone. That structure matters. Athletes need routines they trust, and coaches need a warm-up that reliably prepares the group for the main part of training. But the problem starts when structure turns into rigidity. One athlete feels stiff. Another needs more activation. The routine looks the same from the outside — the readiness isn't. Charlie Francis put it simply: “Do whatever you need to warm up.” That doesn't mean anything goes. It means absolute rules like “no static stretching, ever” can miss the context in front of you. A warm-up that works needs enough structure to be trusted, and enough room to actually adjust. The article covers how to build that compromise in team settings, including where individual windows can fit without turning the warm-up into chaos. Speed work in soccer is easy to plan. It is harder to make it fit the game. A straight sprint can be useful. So can GPS reports. But once the ball is involved, the picture changes quickly. The player has to read the situation, react, and still produce speed inside a football action. That is the gap Efthymios Kyprianou’s Speed in Soccer Masterclass sits in. It takes the theory onto the pitch through real field sessions, smaller spaces, bigger spaces, and the coaching corrections that show whether the drill actually fits football. Worth watching if speed work in your program isn't yet connected to the game: https://lnkd.in/dC2XAegp #StrengthAndConditioning #FootballPerformance #SpeedTraining #SportsScience #ComplementaryTraining

Team planning looks clean until the week actually starts. One player is coming off a heavy match, another needs speed exposure, another could use strength work, and the head coach still wants one team session that holds together. There is no perfect weekly algorithm that solves that, and this article does not pretend there is. It leans on simple heuristics for when biology and logistics pull in different directions. Most of it comes back to micro-dosing. Keep a minimum thread of work alive across qualities, place the higher-quality work where athletes are fresh enough to actually use it, and only saturate a quality for the athletes who genuinely need it.
