39-87: Documentation improvements look solid. The additions clarify the behaviour of
{}and provide helpful alternatives. The footnotes explaining TypeScript's structural typing are particularly useful. The change fromRecord<string, never>toRecord<keyof any, never>on line 61 is more accurate.
155-159: Excellent explanatory footnotes. These add valuable context without cluttering the main documentation. The structural typing explanation helps demystify the surprising behaviour of
{}.

🔇 Additional comments (6)
crates/biome_js_analyze/src/lint/complexity/no_banned_types.rs (6)
39-48: Improved clarity with "top type" terminology. The documentation now correctly describes
(...args: never) => unknownas a "top type" that can be assigned any function type but can't be called directly. This is more precise than previous wording.
50-65: Excellent documentation improvements for empty object type. The updates correctly:
- Use "non-nullish" (more precise than "non-nullable")
- Recommend
Record<keyof any, never>overRecord<string, never>(correctly handles symbol keys)- Document the
unique symbolapproach as an alternative- Add footnotes for complex explanations
86-87: Nice example showingNonNullableequivalence. This ties together the earlier discussion about
{}accepting any non-nullish value.
157-161: Well-placed footnotes for technical details. The footnotes explain structural typing and
unique symbolusage without cluttering the main documentation flow.
166-171: Sources configuration correctly updated per feedback. The multi-source configuration properly uses:
.same()for the originalban-types(direct port).inspired()for the three newer split rulesThis addresses the previous review feedback correctly. As per coding guidelines, this is the appropriate way to cite multiple ESLint TypeScript sources.
336-343: Diagnostic messages aligned with documentation. The updated messages consistently use "non-nullish" and recommend
Record<keyof any, never>with theunique symbolalternative, matching the documentation improvements.

1-9: Add trailing newline to satisfy Markdown linting. The file is still missing a trailing newline, which blocks the pipeline. This was flagged previously and needs to be addressed.
🔎 Proposed fix
The rule's listed sources have been updated as well to reflect the original source rule (`ban-types`) having been [split into 3 separate rules](https://github.com/typescript-eslint/typescript-eslint/pull/8977) circa April 2024. +

5-9: Excellent clarity on the rule updates and recommendations. The changeset succinctly explains the documentation improvements, source rule changes, and the key recommendation shifts (e.g.,
Record<keyof any, never>overRecord<string, never>). The reference to the TypeScript Playground and the ESLint split will help users understand the rationale. For future rule change entries, a brief inline code example or link to invalid/valid code snippets could further illustrate the impact—though the current prose is already quite informative.

Learning: In the Biome codebase, each lint rule has its own options type declaration (e.g., `type Options = RuleNameOptions`) as part of the codegen process, even if the options struct is empty or unused. This is standard practice and should not be flagged as an issue.

Summary
I made a goof when documenting the rule prior.
Apparently there's another better way to notate an empty object that I missed before (not to mention
Record<string, never>has a gapingSymbol-shaped hole in it). Here's a breakdown of the differences and why one may be preferred
Also, since the TSEslint source rule has been split up for the past year or so, it makes sense to add the 3 smaller rules as sources as well.
