For three years, Giovanni Rocco lived two lives. By day, he was a man with a wife and children. By night, he was Giovanni Gatto—a mob associate climbing the ranks of the DeCavalcante crime family, one of America's most powerful organised crime organisations. He was brilliant at it. Too brilliant. So brilliant that his captain, Charlie Stango, loved him like a son. So brilliant that he was proposed for membership—to become a made man.But there was a price. Everything he built was a lie. Everyone he loved was in danger. And when Charlie Stango asked him to arrange a murder, the FBI had to pull him out. What happened next was worse than anything that came before: witness protection, erasure, a life lived in hiding, and the realisation that the man he'd become—the only version of himself that felt real—could never exist again. This is the story of an undercover operation that succeeded brilliantly and destroyed everything in the process. This is what it costs to survive. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Mapping India: The world's largest count
India is undertaking the biggest population count the world has ever attempted - a digital census designed to capture the lives, identities and realities of more than 1.4 billion people. With three million field staff, self‑enumeration in 16 languages, and real‑time monitoring across cities, forests, floodplains and megacities, the operation is both a national ritual and a vast technological experiment. The census reaches far beyond population totals. It records religion, language, housing, migration, education, work, and for the first time in nearly a century, caste.

Blamed on Bundy | Everyone Knew Everyone | 1
Impatient customers lined up at the cash register late on the afternoon of Friday, July 4th, 1975. The gas station clerk, Nancy Perry Baird, was nowhere to be found. A police officer soon discovered Nancy’s purse, keys and car were left behind. So was Nancy’s 4-year-old son, Brant. In this episode, investigative reporter Dave Cawley traces Nancy Baird’s life from her childhood to her disappearance. He reveals how a tiny, untrained police department in East Layton, Utah fumbled the case. That is, until a convenient scapegoat arrived to draw away the public's attention. Now, Nancy’s son Brant Baird breaks his silence, speaking for the first time exclusively to COLD. And the last surviving member of the East Layton Police Department spins a confusing story about where he was when Nancy Baird vanished. True Crime
For the past two years, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Ronan Farrow has been following a trail of clues from his investigation of Harvey Weinstein to other blockbuster stories about the systems that protect powerful men accused of terrible crimes in Hollywood, Washington, and beyond. But he didn’t bring that information to light on his own. A compelling cast of sources—from brave whistleblowers to shadowy undercover operatives—decided the fate of these investigations, sometimes risking everything in the process. The Catch and Kill Podcast brings you their stories, in their own words, for the first time.
