There is no English translation for malasakit. Not because the concept is too complex to explain. But because the English-speaking world never needed a word for it. In a recent conversation, Tim, President of Philippine Operations, said it best: malasakit is not empathy. Empathy means you understand someone's pain. You feel it. You sit with it.
