Coming together as a group of ex-interns for Teach For Malaysia, we decided on an initiative to help the Fellows teaching in urban poor and rural areas in Miri. It was a week-long initiative that saw us each conducting lessons, motivational talks and presentations separately in a total of 4 high-need schools: SMK Dato' Permaisuri, SMK Lutong, SMK Pujut and SMK Baru, exposing us to the current education environment and situation in Sarawak, at the same time engaging with the students there.

Using the changepoint modelling technique on rare earth element data from Sweden, Belgium and China, I attempted to link changes between the past wind behaviours of Europe and Asia. The modelling exercise assigns likelihood values for significant changes occurring at distinct ages in the data which allows for more objectivity in identifying times of synchronous alterations. I tested three approaches of handling the modelled data, two of which were analytical techniques. The results of the study…

The project required a dissertation submission and was further assessed with a viva. I received a 2:1 (second-upper) grade for my work.
