We need to rethink the conventional structure of resources when it comes to SaaS implementations. A new report from IBRS found that projects with a heavy reliance on tier 1 consultancies for strategy and management are more likely to result in budget and timeline blowouts. The report suggests that these tier 1 consultancies should be included only as "the exception" and reserved for highly complex, custom re-implementations, while more focus should be placed on empowering the internal team, with help from the vendor and tier 2 consultancies. Core ERP system upgrades don't usually fail due to technology, but rather due to implementation, according to IBRS advisor, Dr. Joseph Sweeney. A new IBRS report, commissioned by TechnologyOne, explores digital transformation delivery models, the need for organisations to move away from legacy technology and operations, and how they can achieve a better time-to-value during their implementation projects. Our General Manager for AI and Innovation, Anatoly Tulchinsky, joined other tech leaders at Griffith University for Australian Industry Group's Artificial Intelligence Frontrunning event. Alongside Leigh Williams, CIO at Brisbane Catholic Education, and Professor Dian Tjondronegoro, a researcher at Griffith University, the panel explored how AI can streamline business processes while keeping people firmly at the heart of every innovation. The discussion reinforced a critical point: AI isn’t about replacing jobs. It’s about empowering people, reducing administrative burden, and enabling teams to focus on higher‑value work to support their communities. The Brisbane Catholic Education AI program was a standout example, demonstrating how thoughtful, ethical AI adoption can drive real outcomes in education. #ArtificialIntelligence

Over the next few months, our higher education team is hitting the road to discuss our Timetabling & Scheduling product with universities, TAFEs, and vocational education institutions across Australia. Our first stop was Sydney, where we met with institutions from across NSW and the ACT. The workshop sparked open and practical conversations about real-world scheduling challenges, with valuable perspectives shared across different roles and institutions. We also previewed the next generation of our class scheduling system, including how a continuous database could work in practice. The feedback was encouraging and confirmed we’re heading in the right direction. Most importantly, it was a genuinely enjoyable day spent with people who care deeply about scheduling and weren’t short on ideas or questions. Next stop is Adelaide on 28 April – stay tuned. #EdTech #TimetablingAndScheduling #HigherEducation

This year, on Close the Gap Day, we hosted morning teas across Australia, featuring a live Q&A with YarnnUp Cultural Advisor, Suzanne Grech. This was an important opportunity for our team to listen, learn, and understand what reconciliation means from a First Nations perspective. Over the last few months, we have also been working with Suzanne and Therese Fuller, Senior Consultant at YarnnUp, to shape our second Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, aimed at building cultural capabilities and deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and perspectives. Thank you Suzanne and Therese for supporting us on this journey.
