AECA Solutions recently showcased its commitment to Sabah’s digital transformation at Sabah Drone Open Day 2024, organized by the Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) .
This event highlighted Sabah’s rapidly growing drone ecosystem as a key driver for regional economic growth. With Sabah’s government prioritizing digital transformation, drone technology is a central enabler in advancing this vision.
The event was inaugurated by YB Datuk Jin Zhe Phoong, Sabah’s Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, and included remarks from Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji bin Haji Noor, Chief Minister of Sabah, who emphasized the creation of new opportunities for local talent and the role of drones in Sabah’s sustainable economic future.
Attendees engaged in expert talks, pocket talks, drone demos, business matchups, and hands-on training. These sessions covered a wide range of applications, including:
✅ Economic transformation in Sabah
✅ Agriculture and sustainable development
✅ Surveying, utility inspections, and project monitoring
✅ Security, surveillance, and rescue operations
✅ Logistics and air mobility
We took this opportunity to demonstrate our expertise with Trinity Pro, one of the most reliable and advanced eVTOL fixed wing drones in the world. With this capability, we are all geared to offer tailored solutions for Sabah’s market needs.
AECA also had the honor to share industry insights where our CEO, Tengku Erina Tengku Nasrudin presented on the 1st Day in Pocket Talk “The Future of Drones and its Applications”, which got the audience thinking on the direction/industry they might want to optimize this emerging technology.
Our COO, Ariffin Aris was panelist and sole industry representative in the session on "Drone Technology for Surveillance, Security and Rescue". The session was carefully curated to present multidimensional views on technology adoption in this domain, bringing together experts from Royal Malaysian Police, Fire & Rescue Department, and the Malaysian Navy.
Mr Ariffin, with his first hand experience in many challenging missions of surveillance, security and rescue using drones, provided valuable insights into the practical applications and prospects of #DroneTechnology in critical operations, highlighting its impact on efficiency, safety, and real-time decision-making. He presented cases of disaster missions undertaken by AECA Solutions Sdn. Bhd. for natural disasters including landslides where drone LiDAR mapping was used for applications like #SlopeMonitoring and slope profile, hazard assessment, pile volume calculation, that help authorities with mitigation planning, landscape modeling, and recurring patterns.
We also look forward to bringing our capabilities in #3DMapping and #ProjectMonitoring, amongst other applications, to Sabah.
We’re excited to continue supporting Sabah’s development with innovative drone solutions. Stay tuned for more updates on our initiatives in Sabah!
Let’s #throwback to a week ago, to 🎮🚁 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐡 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 🛩️🚀!
A drone soccer tournament was held during 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐡 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 with eight teams from various local education and TVET institutions compete to be champions. The first day of SDOD 2024 saw these teams undergo training, which included learning how to assemble their respective drones as well as navigating the playing field. Day two of SDOD 2024 then saw these teams vie against each other to claim victory!
We hope you were among the participants of 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐡 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, and that it had been an enjoyable and enlightening experience!

Sabah will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️
Having served in Sabah for more than 8 years, 4 years as UAS crew, I’ve always believed Sabah has unique potential to become state leader in Malaysia’s drone industry.
This journey wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of the state government, which tirelessly builds awareness, creates opportunities, and embodies the true spirit of “Sabahan.”
The success of recent Sabah Drone Open Day 2.0 event is another proof to this vision. Honestly, it was inspiring to see the venue filled with crowds right until the end of 2nd day.
Not only did the event showcase a fantastic exhibition and a Shore-to-Ship Cargo Delivery demonstration, but it also offered a unique chance for the public to connect with educational institutions, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, tech businesses, service providers, researchers, and industry users.
This speaks to the strong commitment of the Sabah government in organizing such impressive events and the dedication of the Sabahan people to advancing the drone industry.
This event was also a groundbreaking experience for our Pen Aviation flight crew and the CAAM KK ATC, as we coordinated real-time coordination Shore-to-Ship Cargo Delivery and ISR demo sessions.
A heartfelt thank you to the Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) team led by Kevin George Ukang sir and everyone who was involved, contributing their time and effort to make this successfull event. Bravo Zulu! 🫡
The hustle has been real over the past month, but every step and experience has been a valuable lesson, pushing us further both as individual and as a team.
Let’s keep the momentum up - because hard work always pays off.✊
No pain, No gain! #NeverStopLearning
