The Master of Communication and Media (MCM) is a master’s programme at Pwani University in Kilifi, based in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. In this programme you learn to understand, manage and communicate complex information effectively for different target groups and media contexts. The Main Objectives are:

• Understanding user needs
• Creating and managing information efficiently
• Structuring and presenting information in media and audiovisual form
• Providing knowledge transfer in media- and user-friendly way

The programme responds to the growing importance of communication and information technologies in a global labour market. Its interdisciplinary approach welcomes students from different academic backgrounds and enables them to develop communication and information management skills relevant to their specific fields.

Duration: Minimum of 2 academic years, Maximum of 4 academic years.

Schedule of Intakes: With the start of each academic year in September.

Mode of Delivery: Blended Learning.
Classes will mainly take place virtually with the use and deployment of digital platforms and video conferencing tools. Only some special classes will take place on-site at Pwani University.

Total Fees per year: KES 105,400.00

Requirements:
I. Hold a Bachelors degree from Pwani University or a recognized university in any discipline such as the Arts, the Sciences, STEM and Education, with a minimum of a Second Class Honours Upper Division.
OR
II. Hold a Bachelors degree from Pwani University or from a recognized institution in any discipline in Arts, the Sciences, STEM and Education with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division or its equivalent PLUS additional relevant training, evidence of research capabilities (either through research/ paper presentations/peer reviewed publications) and a minimum of two years of work experience in the related fields.

Today, AI is transforming Technical Communication, introducing new tools and methods that are increasingly integrated into education and professional practice.
MCM combines communication, technology, media, and user-centered thinking to prepare professionals for the changing demands of industry and society.
