I think the 9600 has the possibility to put Mediatek at the front of the chipset war (if we're talking raw performance). Not a fan of the AI stuff they keep trying to cram down our throats/

Bought the X300 pro last year and dodged a bullet. The new models are more expensive and even the X300 pro got a price hike this year.

it's clear vivo has not optimised the main cam at all, the UW cam takes better shots.
The main cam takes overprocessed, oversharpened photos with AI-enhanced looking details. Yet the UW cam is a lot better somehow? lol
The telephoto is good but faces and some details still look AI enhanced.
Thankfully for most, you can turn down the sharpness to a filmic level, i have an x200 ultra and use -30 sharpness, for the x500 pro max i'd use -80 sharpness lol

Personally I think it's either the Pro Max or the regular. The Pro is kind of a compromise both ways - smallest battery of all 3, same cameras as the regular. The chipset is higher performance, but honestly maximum performance isn't really worth paying extra for these days, most apps (including most mobile games) are super smooth even on modern midrange chipsets.
Pro Max if you want the screen size, battery, and telephoto. Regular if you don't need the best, only "good" performance, battery life, and telephoto.

Samsung deserved it, all chip companies do.
But it was a stupid move from Oppo.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2026"Oppo refused to pay samsung more money for chips"... moreI laughed when I saw people say that, Oppo would hike the prices too.
Everybody does and has to.
But now that I see the difference... surprised by how little apple hiked it up compared to oppo.
But a bit shocked how much oppo hiked it, this is concerning because it means they are not in a good position financially if they have to hike it that much.
Or they just got a beyond poor deal on the storage and ram.
Or... they got greedy, but that would be stupid with these hikes, so I assume option 1 or 2 and not last 3rd one.

"Oppo refused to pay samsung more money for chips" they said.
Because "oppo wants to keep the prices low" some said.
There is no way to keep the prices low enough without making a loss, apple and samsung sell enough to lower their margins, oppo does not and they need to hike it up more.
Truly, I can not wait for prices to drop, not only with phones but also ram and storage for desktops, because my AM4 systems begs to be replaced after nearly a decade (I did replace the cpu once, but I want to go AM5).

Good phones but the 2500rmb price increase for the 16gb 512gb variant (from 5999rmb in the Vivo x300 pro to 8499rmb in the Vivo x500 pro max ) is excessive. Bear in mind Apple increased prices for their 512gb variant by 1000rmb. Vivo is trying to make Apple look concientious. Sales are bound to collapse this year. I know storage prives have rocketed but still think they could do better. Look how the gap from 12gb 256gb to 12gb 512gb is 500rmb on the standard model but 1000rmb on both pro models. As far as i know it's the same storage so why should it cost double on the pro models?

Shamrock Sean, 21 Sep 2026Those night shots look awful very over sharpened yeah the night shots look awful! the only reason the indoor shots look good is because there is barely any dynamic range needed to expose for things lit by the same studio lights (the backgrounds are just photo prints).
I was hyped, but not anymore.
