These updates are designed to drive real impact by embedding ESG principles deeper into business operations. 🔍 Key Updates: ✅ Green Credits Transparency – Listed companies must now report Green Credits generated or procured, extending this accountability to their top 10 value chain partners. This step ensures sustainability is a shared responsibility across the ecosystem. ✅ Assessment vs. Assurance Flexibility – Businesses can choose between third-party assessment or assurance for BRSR Core reporting. New KPIs will track job creation in small towns, gender pay gaps, and corporate transparency. ✅ Value Chain ESG Disclosures – Companies must disclose ESG data from top upstream & downstream partners (≥2% of total transactions), covering 75% of business volumes. The *dus spoke India Inc - CSR Report 2025* by Give Grants provides a comprehensive analysis of India's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) landscape, highlighting its evolution, challenges, and future potential. The report is based on interviews with 27 CSR leaders, surveys of 47 CSR leaders and 78 non-profit organization (NPO) leaders, and granular data analysis of India's top 200 CSR spenders. It reveals that CSR spending is projected to grow significantly, reaching INR 12 lakh crore by FY35, making it one of the largest and most stable sources of private capital for social impact in India. However, the report also identifies critical gaps, such as regional disparities in funding, underinvestment in NPO capacity building, and a lack of collaboration among corporates. The findings underscore the need for strategic shifts to ensure CSR can drive equitable and scalable development. Key Takeaways CSR expenditure is growing at a CAGR of 12.2%, with education (34%) and health (27%) being the dominant focus areas. However, funding remains concentrated in high-GDP states, leaving low-income regions like the North East and aspirational districts underserved. Companies are increasingly aligning CSR with business strategy, focusing on employee engagement (87%), community goodwill (74%), and customer perception (64%). The top 200 companies are leading this shift, with 66% narrowing their focus to four or fewer thematic areas. NPOs rely heavily on CSR funding, with 50% depending on it for over half of their budgets. However, CSR is often perceived as a "low-trust" relationship due to inflexible grants, compliance burdens, and short-term outcome expectations. Only 47% of CSR leaders invest in NPO capacity building, despite 86% of NPOs reporting inadequate support. Opportunities for Indian NGOs NGOs should align their missions with CSR focus areas like education and health, while demonstrating measurable impact to attract long-term funding. Proactively engaging with CSR teams to co-create projects can shift the dynamic from transactional to collaborative. NGOs must invest in leadership, technology integration, and data systems to meet CSR expectations. Highlighting these needs in proposals can encourage CSR teams to allocate funds for capacity building. NGOs operating in low-capacity states or aspirational districts can position themselves as critical partners for CSR funds seeking equitable impact. Showcasing local expertise and community trust can differentiate them. NGOs should communicate the importance of flexible grants and long-term commitments to CSR leaders, emphasizing the need for agility in development work. Sharing success stories of adaptive projects can build trust. NGOs can pitch pilot projects or research initiatives to CSR teams, highlighting how innovation can address systemic challenges. Collaborating with CSR-funded incubators or academic institutions can also unlock resources.

Some of the key takeaways are Repositioning the Haat: The central theme that emerged was the need to reposition haats as commons under the #Panchayatiraj (PR) framework. This structural shift is viewed as a mechanism to maximize benefits, particularly for women engaged in natural farming. The panel of speakers underscored the multi-faceted power of the haat beyond simple trade, focusing on its ability to drive systemic change: Promoting #Circular #Economy: The direct exchange within the haat ensures circularity, benefiting both producers and consumers locally. By keeping capital within the community, it significantly strengthens the foundation of the rural economy and local supply chains. #Inclusion and #Market #Access: Haats provide the best direct marketing avenue, naturally addressing issues of inclusion for marginalized producers, mainly women who may struggle to access formal markets. Propagating #Natural #Farming: The haat serves as an ideal platform to propagate #naturalfarming practices, directly encouraging agricultural diversity and providing a local consumer base that boosts sustainable produce. Nurturing Rural #Leadership: The markets act as important community convergence points, organically helping emergent leaders grow and gain visibility within both the social and political structures of the village. The uniqueness of this session lay in its format as a #roundtable discussion. This approach fostered genuine, deep engagement, allowing all the participants the opportunity to share their diverse field experiences and rich learnings. This ensured that the collective wisdom of practitioners informed the strategic recommendations.
