  • AI demand is fuelling a UK data-centre boom, with operators announcing over £17 billion in new investment—including a £1 billion Hertfordshire campus and a £2.5 billion nationwide expansion. At BE News’ “Spotlight on Data Centres”, Diarmaid Connolly warned: “It’s taken 50 years to build the UK’s current capacity, and we’re not going to double that in the next five—not with the shortage of contractors capable of delivering at this scale. But there’s a clear roadmap for clients and strong market confidence in the UK’s ability to deliver. What’s needed now is broader, end-to-end thinking to unlock that potential.” Hosted by SEC Newgate UK, the session explored grid capacity, AI-ready design, and funding the next hyperscale wave. Read the round-table paper for Diarmaid’s full insights. https://lnkd.in/dJ5dc3kp
