At i2CAT, we drive the digital transformation of society and the Catalan public sector by turning technological innovation into more efficient, accessible, and people-centred services.

We collaborate with the Government of Catalonia, local councils, county councils, and provincial governments to tackle key challenges and design digital solutions tailored to the specific needs of each region and community.

We approach this with a strategic vision focused on ensuring universal access to technology, promoting digital empowerment among citizens, and strengthening collaboration networks between public and social stakeholders.

Our work combines cutting-edge research with applied innovation, leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G, blockchain, and NewSpace to serve public administrations and citizens. Based on the quadruple helix model, we foster strategic alliances between the public sector, businesses, knowledge centers, and civil society to drive a digital transformation with social, territorial, and sustainable impact.

Driving the digital transformation of public administration

We develop pilot projects to address specific challenges identified by public administrations, ensuring technology transfer and generating a positive impact in the social, economic, environmental, or technological fields.

Supporting the definition and implementation of digital strategies

We assist public administrations in designing and executing efficient digital strategies, such as the Catalonia AI 2030 Strategy or the Catalonia Space Strategy 2030, among other key initiatives of the Government of Catalonia.

Connecting the public sector with the business innovation ecosystem

We stimulate the Catalan business network specialized in advanced digital technologies (ADT), facilitating connections with public administrations to foster sustainable and innovative growth.

Fostering the adoption of advanced digital technologies

We organize training and technological capacity-building activities for policymakers and technical teams, to encourage a digital culture open to innovation and the use of ADT.

Creating and activating spaces for innovation

We develop new physical and digital spaces for open innovation—such as labs, demonstrators, and co-creation workshops—where administrations can identify challenges, test solutions, and explore how to integrate technological innovation into their daily operations.
